I do this all the time when I'm bored at work. I'll look at a random word closely and start to think about how weird it looks and why it sounds the way it does. Then it'll bother me for an hour that this "word" is so weird. After that I forget about it.

no, you compared a computer to a DVD player. im comparing lack of a pc to to the lack of any technology in that room(except 2 lamps which arent so modern). ya know, i get flamed by tards so hard on this board. at least attempt to present yourselves as more intelligent than i am. and of course the presidency is a show. it has been since the advent of television. read up on the Kennedy v Nixon debates. most people who saw that debate on TV thought Kennedy kicked Nixon ass. the people who heard the debate on the radio and read it in the newspaper clearly thought Nixon was the victor.

You know what's weird, the word the, if you really look at it. It almost looks foreign.
See you are referring to a road with a more complete name than a number. "I drove home on the Route 101 instead of taking the Interstate 95." That sounds correct to you? It might even be grammatically but it looks pretty clumsy to actually use in conversation. Would you say "Turn left on the Waterside Drive" in So. Cal. or "Turn left on Waterside Drive"? It can nearly make your sentence take on a totally different meaning without the capitalization for contextual reference.

Socalifornians never prefix it with route, interstate, highway etc. We just refer to them as the + the number. People in the north always deride us socalers for saying it that way especially in SF. But people in sf refer to there neighborhoods as The ___, ie the marina, the mission, etc. Imagine if people started saying "hey I live in the Brooklyn".

That's actually somewhat interesting about using the term "The 405" in socal.

I wake up to the Adam Corolla show and used to listen to them blather on and mention "The 405" once in a while. I think it's just a local thing, as there is a split-off of I-5 in WA and OR as well numbered I-405, but people in OR and WA don't usually (from what I see) refer to it as "The 405"

In WA state we generally refer to it as just the number. Read: "We're going to take 405 down to Renton."

Note: I don't go to Renton, that place is fucking ghetto.

It isn't as if the President sits around checking his email. I'd imagine that any emails are sent to his aides. His day probably consists of wall to wall meetings, with his aides handling any correspondence or procedural/scheduling issues. If the President of the United States has to manage an Outlook calendar on top of the rest of his duties, we're fucked.

I imagine that at Obama, Bush and Clinton have/had an enormous amount of emails for their eyes only.

Yeah, like from Monica! ZING!

I don't know, email seems so flaky for top secret shit to me. I like to picture the official looking envelope with CONFIDENTIAL stamped across it in a severe shade of red. And where is the fire truck red rotary dial telephone? That shit is a must in case of national security crises or the threat of nuclear war. Maybe it is hidden under a bronze bust of Jimmy Carter or something.

Its all these fucking bloggers in their parents' basements that made her look bad you see.

Also something about being accused of wanting to ban a Harry Potter book that wasn't out at the time she was mayor of Wasilla? She talked as if Harry Potter was a single book but the first two came out while she was mayor it looks like. I'm not sure on details beyond that.

Great interview. Sets a lot of truth straight. I wouldn't expect the die hard Obamas in this thread to say "Oh, I was wrong to believe that Sarah Palin didn't know about Africa!" though! It's much funner to believe a lie.

She had some abysmal handlers with the McCain campaign, among other things. It still doesn't qualify her to be a heartbeat from the Presidency, no matter what sort of bad press she got.

If she's really clever, she'll have a more promising career than ever going forward. Time will tell.
