| It was the best show I've been to. Not sure what else to say -- it was the perfect mix of old material and new stuff. Of their new stuff, they played Re-education (their single), Collapse (first song on the album and one of the best), and Hero of War (acoustic track that's breathtakingly beautiful/powerful). Bunch of stuff from the last album, some from the first three. Extremely energetic, nice long set (near an hour and a half), good crowd atmosphere.
Not a major fan of any of the opening bands (Gaslight Anthem, Thrice, Alkaline Trio -- who performed in that order), but Gaslight was very solid and Alkaline put on a great show. Thrice, on the other hand, what the fuck? Most pathetic performance from a semi-major band I've ever witnessed. Major, major garbage -- this band is washed up big time.
Actually did end up stopping by Bombers (since it was literally two minutes from the concert venue [the Armory]). Didn't stay for long though, neither of us had a voice after the concert nor did we have any money to spend on margaritas and burritos, lolo. Went to some cool Australian themed restaurant also on Lark St. prior to the concert that I can recommend wholeheartedly.
So yes, if you are a Rise Against fan, or a fan of rock/punk music (or anything resembling it), you missed out. If you'd like I can post (or PM) some pics I took of the show when I get a chance to upload them.
Seeing NoFX back home (on Long Island) next week and, having heard how ridiculous/crazy/funny they are live, I'm almost as hyped for that as I was for this.
