+54 Internets | On the last page, a correction was mentioned about Obama's tax plan. He said 95% of taxpayers would see a tax cut, whereas the correction (factcheck) said it'd be 80%. The latter number is a tax cut compared to taxes today, whereas the 95% is how many will pay less taxes after Bush's tax cut expire. (they are only temporary) If you think the Bush tax cut would be made permanent regardless, then the 80% number would be more accurate. If you think the cut would be left to expire, the 95% figure is correct. On another note: McCain missed the vote on the spending bill, which contained over 2,000 "earmarks." Would have been an opportunity to vote against it and show how serious he is. McCain Skips Vote on Spending Bill | The Trail | washingtonpost.com |

| Ok, so hes supposed to get out of town on Friday, but then Saturday be in town to vote. Personally, I think it should be required to quit your Senate/House/Governor/Etc job when you run for president. They are still earning a salary from the taxpayers to do a job, and should be required to do said job every day just like the rest of us. |

They didn't want him to drag presidential politics into a situation that didn't need them. No one said or is saying he shouldn't show up to vote. | |

| Basically, on Wednesday Harry Reid says he wanted to know where John McCain stands. He shows up, then gets told to get out of town, then hes supposed to vote on something to "prove" hes tough on earmarks. McCains "Not Voting" record is fucking stupid, and makes me angry why hes even getting a Salary. I dunno about you, but I wouldn't be opposed to getting a paycheck without doing any work. |

+29 Internets | You're confusing 2 different things. Reid said that they didn't need him for the negotiations on the bailout bill, and said that he didn't need to suspend his campaign or bow out of the debates. He just wanted McCain to do some leadership, not show up and fuck up the process, which by some accounts seems to be what happened. Him not voting on the spending bill was his own thing. He could have driven there in about 10 minutes, Crystal City is basically in DC. He instead chose to.. not go. Which honestly, I'm ok with just because his vote against would not have changed the outcome and would have been purely a political "hey look at me I'm against earmarks!" move. And his position on earmarks is more than a little ridiculous, he has people convinced that by cutting 18 billion in earmark spending he can somehow fix the deficit of 450ish billion. It's a tiny amount of money but if you listened to McCain you would think that cutting earmarks and CEO salaries would completely fix the economy. Anyway, yeah it's 2 different issues. And you're right, they should HAVE to vote, constituents are supposed to hold them accountable for that but we see how often that happens. I'm all about term limits, but they are the ones who would have to pass such a law. |

| Wow. That was just wow. Is it a shame that during the second half of the skit that I felt like it was actually the real Palin giving her response to couric in the interview? Tiny Fey does a great job...
