also: I don't think the plan is for McCain to save this vote. I think that he and the president set up Reid and Pelosi, they have to pass this bill because they have complete control of both houses. McCain can then step in and absolutely ream them for 6 weeks about how awful it is when a huge majority of Americans think this bailout is intolerable. | I have nothing to contribute and just want to say I can't believe republicans are being a bunch of little bitches while watching WaMu goes down hard. (I'm bitter 'cause I was holding onto WaMu stock and betting on it to survive. Live and learn.) |

| Good time to implement some term limitations on Congress. Maybe they'll be able to do what they actually think is best instead of trying to stay on the gravey train for as long as humanly possible. |

+29 Internets | I don't think the Dems will pass it, certainly not tomorrow. I think that was pretty bold of McCain to come down to Washington and shit on everyone's party. The Dems are trying to frame it as Bush's plan. If they are successful, I think that puts McCain is a position that he does not want to be in. |

| McCain can't skip the debate tomorrow. Bitch as he must if he skips it no kind of spin is going to equal the amount of free 1on1 press coverage Obama is going to get with the world tomorrow night. He won't send Palin because that would be a disaster. If he sends some random aide they will probably get denied since they aren't running for any office. Its either McCain or nothing. Obama can play up the president needs to be able to multi-task angle all night and McCain will be doing nothing but running the defensive on that for the next week at least. Then hes going to have to do it again for the VP debate and try and spin the bill as a positive angle when its obvious he's doing nothing to help it along.

| Bingo. That is exactly why this was a political ploy from the very beginning.

| I'd claim that it was his calculation that the gimmick would make him look like a man confronting the crisis head on. It was a Hail Mary, after all. Not likely to work, but in truth necessary that it did work, because his campaign was floundering bad.

| A Bearded Gnome | The media has been blaming the house republicans all night for not getting the bail out done, so it's all on their heads right now that this thing has failed to come to fruitation. The Dems will not pass this w/o the republicans on board. What the house republicans want is shear lunacy...less regulation and no capital gains tax for 2 years? lol please...fool me once shame on me, fool me tiwce...na-uh these idiots aren't going to fool us again.

| The capital gains shit is pure gold, by the way. Let's encourage people to remove their assets from Wall Street by removing the only real penalty inherent in doing so.
