The Palin house of cards is teetering .

Quote:
A precipitous drop in Sarah Palin’s approval may be helping to fuel Obama’s gains. Immediately after the convention 41% of Colorado voters said that her selection made them more likely to vote for John McCain, compared to 38% who said it made them less likely to do so. Since then there’s been a 12 point drop in her net favorability. Now just 38% say that she makes them more likely to vote for the Republican, with 47% saying they’re less likely to do so.
Source: Public Policy Polling

A 47% negative is pretty high. What will happen once the tactic of hiding her from the public because of the "sexist, liberal media" fails? At some point Palin will have to do something other than her canned Obama bashing, bridge to nowhere speeches. At some point she will have to leave the undisclosed location the McCain campaign has her in. Is it possible to become the VP of the United States without talking to anyone and once VP not talk to anyone? If McCain pulls it off I do have to give it to him for having the gall to even try it. Obviously she is even more green and incompetent than we can even imagine.

I'm not sure why this deserved to be a breaking news e-mail, but I suppose it makes sure everyone reads it.

McCain Aide's Firm Was Paid by Freddie Mac

One of the giant mortgage companies at the heart of the credit crisis paid $15,000 a month to a firm owned by Senator John McCain's campaign manager from the end of 2005 through last month, according to two people with direct knowledge of the arrangement. The disclosure contradicts a statement Sunday night by Mr. McCain that the campaign manager, Rick Davis, had no involvement with the company for the last several years.

Because its dirt on a republican.

However, if the candidate had a (D) by their name, it wouldn't be breaking.

Duh.

Don't forget the Dust Bowl causing people to lose their farms, banks consolidating those properties into super farms, and the replacement of share-croppers with tractors.

It doesn't matter, she's still drawing large crowds of women who could care less of what she or McCain stand for. If McCain loses the election, it won't because of Sarah Palin.

At the end of the day, people have to vote for John McCain.

Palin may draw some women. (even if her numbers are dropping more and more each week) But as John Kerry proved in 2004 you can't just be "not that other guy" and expect to win.

Palin is going to de-enthuse enough moderate voters, that make up McCains core draw, as she inspires in the right wing fringe. In striking proof of how fucking stupid he is, he took the middle for granted and went, and continues to go, after the fringe.

Its a reverse Clinton. The base is GOING to vote for you. No matter what they say or cry about, they are going to come out to polls and vote. Bush won the middle in 2000 by "restoring dignity" to the white house and getting people with Clinton fatigue. He won in 2004 by owning 9/11 and War on Terror.
Clinton won by giving the finger to the left wing base and working the middle as hard as he could.

Um, actually, Bush didn't win either of those elections. He stole Florida in '00 and Ohio in '04. My sister lives in Ohio and just yesterday reminded me about '04. It's easy to forget that Bush (and the Supreme Court) stole the elections. But I understand what you're saying. He only got as many votes as he did in '00 cuz people were tired of the Clinton crap and because of the war in '04.

But neither the Times story—nor the McCain campaign—revealed that Davis's lobbying firm, Davis Manafort, based in Washington, D.C., continued to receive $15,000 a month from Freddie Mac until last month—long after the Homeownership Alliance had been terminated. The two sources, who requested anonymity discussing sensitive information, told NEWSWEEK that Davis himself approached Freddie Mac in 2006 and asked for a new consulting arrangement that would allow his firm to continue to be paid. The arrangement was approved by Hollis McLoughlin, Freddie Mac's senior vice president for external relations, because "he [Davis] was John McCain's campaign manager and it was felt you couldn't say no," said one of the sources. [McLoughlin did not return phone calls].

The McCain campaign is coming off the rails.

I think the ABC poll is an outlier (and this is coming from an Obama supporter), but he is starting to open up leads that are outside of the polling margin of error, and has three obtainable victory paths:

1. Hold Kerry states + IA, NM, CO for 273 electoral votes. This is the most likely scenario. The only Kerry state where McCain is threatening is NH, and Obama has IA and NM locked up, and CO is trending away from McCain as his bounce fades.

2. Hold all Kerry states except NH + IA, CO, NM for 269 electoral votes. This is Obama's nightmare win. 269-269 tie, which goes to the House where Obama would win, but imagine how little of a mandate he would have for four years.

3. Hold all Kerry states except NH, add IA, CO, NM, and one of OH, FL, VA, or NV. All four of these states are in a statistical tie at the moment, with OH and VA being the closest, and currently Obama has the superior ground game going for him. If Obama pulls any one of these states, go to bed early, because that's when the networks will call it for him.

On McCain's end, he needs to hold OH and FL, and bust his ass in CO. He's also got somewhat of an outside shot at PA as Obama underperforms his polling there thanks to Pennsyltucky Appalachians.

The really weird shit is that Virginia is showing 49 vs. 46 Obama, MaCain respectively today. I never pegged the NORVA growth to be this pronounced, but with the economy tanking, it might be anyone's ballgame here.

PS: Big ups to Souther Tier Pumpkin Ale making me take 10 minutes to make this post remotely readable.

I'm voting for Obama, and I think thats retardedly gay.

I've accepted "hope" is just the lesser form of evil this election. Don't kid yourselves otherwise.

edit: And if you decide who to vote for based on George Castanza, Cabbie Collet, Whoopi Goldberg, Macy Grey, Forest Whitaker, Joss Stone, Barry Manilow, and others i can't name. JUST DON'T. You're not helping anyone by voting for whichever side can garner a larger list of celebrities to sing a song together. That fact that stupid shit like this will help gain votes for one side or the other disgusts me.

Actually if you read the history of it, it wasn't made to endorse Obama but to celebrate the idea of hope that he has brought about in people, win or not. He is reminiscent of MLK.

Oh please, the "Hope" he's talking about is not racial equality. The only hope hes spewing is "not them"
