Already posted, but listening to Palin try to bullshit her way through the Bush Doctrine is fucking painful. I almost feel bad for her. McCain picked a goddamn idiot. Ouch...

If the McCain that is talking tonight would be the one thats on the campaign trail, he would get alot more support. Unfortunatly on the campaign trail the Republican hard line controls most of his remarks.

Charlie Gibson: " I got lost in a blizzard of words, was that a yes?" In other words, please cut the bullshit canned response and answer with your own mind.

Apparenly she had no clue what the Bush Doctrine is.... Well atleast now she knows.

Serious question. Does anyone feel better about Palin after that interview?

I don't. "I believe the bush doctrine is, in such as The Iraqs, maps and... yea"

Okay maybe that's a bit harsh. She had to be nervous as hell but even so, she did not handle herself well there at all.

No one was expecting Palin to do well. She did poor but she was not a disaster. She said the right things to look hawkish on Russia.

LOL "Apparenly" YOU don't know what the "Bush Doctrine" is. It's formally referred to the "Wolfowitz Doctrine". She pounced on Gibson's glib attempt to corner her and was forceful in the correct answer: that committing to ANY doctrine to the exclusion of all other options is a disservice to the American people.

She gave the answer that was actually lived out by the one president that enthusiastically pursued the Wolfowitz Doctrine more than any other president: Bill Clinton. Clinton pursued diplomatic, economic and eventually went with a full-on implementation of the Wolfowitz Doctrine with his unilateral and pre-emptive attacks in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Oh just go take a look around the blogosphere, especially amongst the clintonite PUMA democrat blogosphere and you'll see plenty of folks who think she did well.

I think she did OK, especially considering how hostile her interviewer with. She did a lot better than Obama did with O'Reilly that's for sure.

She was asked about the Bush Doctrine..

Heres a brief description..
The Bush Doctrine is a phrase used to describe various related foreign policy principles of United States president George W. Bush, created in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The phrase initially described the policy that the United States had the right to treat countries that harbor or give aid to terrorist groups as terrorists themselves, which was used to justify the invasion of Afghanistan.Later it came to include additional elements, including the controversial policy of preventive war, which held that the United States should depose foreign regimes that represented a threat to the security of the United States, even if that threat was not immediate (used to justify the invasion of Iraq), a policy of supporting democracy around the world, especially in the Middle East, as a strategy for combating the spread of terrorism, and a willingness to pursue U.S. military interests in a unilateral way. Some of these policies were codified in a National Security Council text entitled the National Security Strategy of the United States published on September 20, 2002.

The line of questioning was in direct association with the Bush Doctrine.

GIBSON: Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?
PALIN: In what respect, Charlie?
GIBSON: The Bush -- well, what do you -- what do you interpret it to be?
PALIN: His world view.
GIBSON: No

Yea she pounced on his ass all right! Get him Sarah!

This is Charlie Gibson for gods sake. She was a joke.

Him stuttering there appeared to me that he realized she probably didn't know what it was.
