Obama campaign highlights Palin's 'zero' experience
Aug 29 01:11 PM US/Eastern

Obama: ‘We Cannot Turn Back’

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's campaign on Friday blasted his Republican rival's choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as a running-mate, highlighting her "zero" foreign policy experience.

"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement.

Burton also criticized Palin as a vice presidential pick for her support of oil drilling in the Alaskan wilderness and her anti-abortion stance, referring to the 1973 Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal in the United States.

"Governor Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies. That's not the change we need, it's just more of the same," he said.

The choice of Palin was seen as a bold effort by McCain to attract disgruntled Democratic and independent supporters of Senator Hillary Clinton, who was defeated by Obama in the race to be the Democratic Party's presidential nominee.

Palin, a telegenic conservative, has led the oil-producing northwestern US state since December 2006 and was the first woman and youngest person to hold that state's top job.

No Experience? She has more experience than Obama and he isnt even running against her.

I like this line

Its actually a strong conservative agenda and its ful of change. more drilling and overturning bad law are both winning points for me.
As for failed economic polices Bush took office with - GDP and just this quarter it rose 3 points.

Actually babe considering mccains vp choice was a big issue BECAUSE of his age, she is running against him.

She weakened the entire ticket on the experience, foreign policy, and national security level.

And as a bonus she'll provoke the Clintons. You say Hillary doesn't want to look bad - Hillary has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Getting back into the good graces of her entire party
Still having a shot at being the first woman pres
Not being blamed for Obama losing
Not having to worry about being too negative because the next election is 4 or 8 years away and shes not running now

vs

Her being called a bitch. Again. Oh noes!

Odd choice for VP. She does have a kid in Iraq and didn't abort her down syndrome kid after amniotic testing showed it would be fucked up. I guess that will play well with right. Then she has the whole trying to get her brother in law fired due to a divorce and custody battle with her sister investigation. Bizarre choice to me that only highlights how old McCain is, he looks like her grandfather.

Hillary has plenty to lose, she is still a ny senator and she still has a chance at a 2012 run. Obama barely beat her and he lost to hillary in almost every major state. The Clintons still swing clout and there are quite a few pissed off Clinton supporters who may potentially vote a woman on mccains ticket as punishment for not including Hillary on Obama's ticket. Her experience is just fine, She actually ran something , sure Alaska is a small population state, so? its still a state she was in charge of and its doing quite well. BTW Mccain's mother is still alive at 96yrs old. Mccain looks like he is gonna kick off but if his mom is still around then he probably will be too after 8 years.

I can't see Neocons voting for a woman.

Obama wins.

Apparently the Chinese Olympic Committee is running the McCain campaign.

I wonder how hard they will push roe vs wade. If I were Obama I'd mention his anti-abortion plans anytime it came up, and not try to talk about how they want to abolish Roe Vs. Wade.

I could see the Christian right ignoring everything about the platform just to have a good chance at removing Roe vs Wade.

I'm up for a one month avatar bet. I'll put myself on Obama/Biden. Any takers?

edit: Automatically putting an avatar bet of Khorum vs IRB. Winner gets to pick loser's avatar for a month.

Ok maybe you dont understand the way this works. If Hillary urges her supporters to continue to support hillary by NOT voting for another woman - its not Obama who is punished. They punish their goddess.
