And as much as the media is at fault for bringing up all these topics about Palin's family the McCain camp is just as much at fault for hiding her like you said. Her views on creationism and flat out opposition to abortion; even in a case where the woman is raped, are topics that I want to hear come up, because quite frankly I disagree with her strongly on both subjects.

As I posted last night, the majority of her speech just felt like it was spoon fed by McCain which I didn't want to see. I want to see her stand up without a script and argue/defend her stance on the major issues (the economy, foreign policy, domestic policy, ect). The longer they keep her from doing interviews the more it irritates me. But again, when she does do an interview the last thing I want to hear about is her seventeen year old daughters pregnancy or her husbands twenty year old DWI as neither topic has anything to do with her stance on the issues.

All the news organizations, except the more tabloid stuff, has come out against going after the family stories (funny no one pushed that for Obama's wife, but she is a terrorist after all). The stories of the past few days that have been of interest are about Palin herself. And rightly so. That isn't bias, it's called "journalism", and McCain's campaign can fucking cry all they want, but the real issue is that they picked a VP candidate that they didn't know much about and are finding things out as it is reported.

Except when they talk about their families as a selling point, I'm not sure I can agree. She spent like 8 of her 20 minutes last night talking about her family. She is useing her family/family life as a reason to support her.

When people say "Hey, she raised 5 kids she must be tough/smart/experienced/whatever" shouldn't we ask how good of a job she did? Spawning takes little effort, but strong parenting takes character.

Also, don't we want to know who is influencing the decisions of a potential president, i.e. their spouses? I think spouses and family always come up in these things, I remember hearing stories about Bush's daughters being big party girl's and I know Tipper Gore's work turned off some people from supporting Clinton/Gore and Gore/Leiberman.

Family seems like a perfectly reasonable area of interest to the American public.

You honestly can't believe that the GOP thinks that they can just hide her away until she is the VP.

Then again, maybe you do.
No they will not be able to hide her forever. However they are using the "media bias" thing to unite their base and hide her as long as possible. She has not even appeared on FOX News yet. Norma Rae has some 'plaining to do.

I agree. I don't want to hear about her daughter no more than I want to hear about Rev. Wright. However, once her radical views come out even conservatives will be shaking their heads.

How long has she been the VP candidate? A week? And with a RNC to prepare for maybe she hasn't had time between being a governor, a mother and the newly announced Republican VP candidate to schedule an interview.

True. Would you consider that a risk?

People attacking Palin's prepared speech seem to forget what a fucking mumbling off the cuff speaker Obama is.

reminder

You can tell Palin hit a bullseye last night judging from the scream of pain from the Obama camp today. Rush is capering on air like a pig in shit. playing Palin's audio clips.

BTW i was wrong when i stated that the only thing Biden has said was that Palin was good looking. today he said he wants to criminally prosecute George Bush after the election
Joe Biden says Barack Obama might pursue criminal charges against Bush administration if elected | World news | guardian.co.uk

lol they are still running against Bush and ignoring the 800 pound gorilla sitting in their living room

Seconded. Doesn't matter that we're pro-Skins anti-Ravens around here, no one is expecting anything good from them tonight so might as well watch politics

And the rule of opposite-Astrocreep still holds true. Gogo Speed Racer!

Sorry, I haven't kept up with the thread, so if this is a repost just move along.

The Daily Dish | By Andrew Sullivan

Quote:
Brickner also described terrorist attacks on Israelis as God's "judgment of unbelief" of Jews who haven't embraced Christianity.

"Judgment is very real and we see it played out on the pages of the newspapers and on the television. It's very real. When [Brickner's son] was in Jerusalem he was there to witness some of that judgment, some of that conflict, when a Palestinian from East Jerusalem took a bulldozer and went plowing through a score of cars, killing numbers of people. Judgment — you can't miss it."

Palin was in church that day, Kroon said, though he cautioned against attributing Brickner’s views to her.
