Palin did an awesome job of being a forum warrior. I'd nominate her for VP of FOH General Mc/Palin V Obama/Biden thread with the amount of experience and ability she showed last night. With Khorum, of course, on top of the ticket.

They hid her away in a bunker with speech writers and acting coaches for 5 days so she could not fuck this up. There was not a single note in the entire speech that was hers, all of it was made and brought to you by some faceless white men. Of course she did well. How could she possibly screw it up? Biden gave a much better speech, and actually campaigned between his announcement and his acceptance speech because he's not an embarrassment to the entire party.

And closing the enthusiasm gap? Seriously, best of luck with that.

Well she did have a copy of it in front of her on the podium. But gotta give her props that she covered pretty well. Her delivery was pretty amateurish all around though. It didn't sound natural though.

Understand that Palin has not been interviewed by anyone not even the conservative media like Sean Hannity. All we have is last night. They joke that being on "Meet the Press" means nothing but how else will the public find out about her radical conservative views? McCain will attempt to keep her from the media but it will only go so far.

I agree. The only time you could actually hear "her voice" in her words was when she was talking about her family.

But shes someone whose been as she stated herself - in an executive role for 8 years and had an on again off again role on TV as a sportscaster.

Improv and public speaking aren't really new concepts to her and in my opinion should be pretty standardly executed. She passed a pretty lowset bar last night but I didn't really think that she did OMG AMAZING.

People did run for office and adapt to less than great situations before the advent of teleprompters.

The main thing that unifies the republican base against democrats is not guns/religion/abortion; no its the idea that republicans are small-town people who just want to be left alone by the elite-metros that think because they have a better education.. or make more money.. they should have a say in how other people live their lives. Now, I won't disagree that the current administration is the exact opposite of this idea... but i'm sure everyone has noticed hos distant McCain is trying to be from the current administration.

Even inthis thread there are a lot of people making fun of republicans for being stupid or "simple"... this is the type of shit that makes republicans go crazy and unifies the base.

The irony is that democrats constantly try to paint republicans as big-oil and big-buisness.. when really the base is the opposite.. More so... the democrats are usually the right, elitist that has gotten them the nickname "latte drinkers".

You know both sides do this not just one to the other.

Dems are called flagburners, commies, hippies, 'inexperienced', 'young', 'tax and spenders' and most often heard in this election an 'unsafe' choice. "Liberal" in itself is a dirty word. The irony of a lot of that especially with regard to the tax and spend name calling is that it is Republicans who are worse by a lot in recent history. (C wut I did thar?)
