Can you really hate democrats that much that you spite your country to spit on a democrat? For god sakes man. I'd vote for a Republican over Obama any day if he was a better candidate. You should vote for whoever YOU think, not what other people think on the internet or whoever your 20 year old friends in Tenn. think. You also shouldn't automatically vote R either. It's blind, dangerous and stupid. You keep harping on less spending and smaller government fine. However I believe Obama's Washington has a better chance of spending less only if you go by Republican trends over the last 10 years. Open your eyes and stop rooting for a team when my and your future is on the line. Stop living in an echo chamber. Stop basing opinions on internet chat rooms and blogs. Look around you and get a breath of fresh air. A different perspective. You're still young you can do it.

+6 Internets | With the economy being fixed, even with that tax rate, they'll end up making more. I'm sure most people here would love to be on the fiscal conservative side. Unfortunately, republicans use that in their campaign...but don't follow it. And the other shit they run on (religion, social repression) scares you away on top of that. I don't know how anyone can consciously want to vote republican. If you don't like the social liberalism, vote 3rd party. If all independents went third party, people are going to notice. But media has done a really good job at convincing you that you're throwing your vote away. |

The debate as to whether any company should have a collective voice or not is not my conern, and is moot at this point. Hence that is why it is illegal for you to buy a $10 Obama button but they can donate $570,000 (I think you said, not going back to look now). How is Switzerland this time of year? How do you think proposed national healthcare should share power/territory with state run systems for those who cannot afford? Should it absorb them all and dictate the rules or is that too much trampling on states' rights? What about compared to higher taxed states, such as New York, which are apt to have a more comprehensive state paid insurance for those who cannot afford? Are they allowed to keep bits and pieces of there plan as an add-on? Is that even feasible? Last edited by MrSpitz; 09-03-2008 at 02:36 PM..

As far as convincing new people, the 6-8 point bounce would seem to indicate otherwise. Past conventions show that McCain should also get something similar, although I have a suspicion that he could very well get a "negative bounce". And after the first Presidential debate I think it will be all over for the Repugs. Old and tired looking versus young and fresh. Game over, imnsho.

Yeah, popular appeal is REALLY indicative of a leader's sincerity and qualifications right. I know it's a little unfair, and I should apologize to whoever may be offended. Unlike Obama, Hitler actually DID display some ability to improve his economy, Hitler DID serve in his country's military, Hitler DID express genuine political courage during the Beerhall Putsch and his time in prison. Any comparison of Hitler to Obama is unfair to Adolf Hitler. Mea Culpa.

| I don't know about vs. Obama, but I bet more people tune in to Palin's speech tonight than McCain's. I can't wait to see what Palin is like but I'm not really even interested in what McCain has to say. I almost watched Obama's on OnDemand until I saw it was an hour long. Screw that. |

| This is the gamble McCain is taking with Palin. This will be a very big night for the GOP. They will sink or swim on her performance tonight and over the course of the campaign. It is like playing "craps". A hockey mom talking about cooking moose burgers and praising Hillary is not going to cut it. |

+1 Internets | A) Republicans only cause increased taxation in the long term. Reagen forced Bush to raise taxes. Bush 2 will force the next two presidents to raise taxes. The GOP is 'fiscally conservative' if you don't mind half a trillion dollars of debt and enjoy watching China buy up the country county by county. Republicans push the Trickle Down Economy, which does not work for the vast bulk of America as proven by W's presidency (record number of people in poverty, and record number of millionaires). 2) Fifteen million of the twenty million of Wasilla debt is due to Palin demanding the creation of a sports complex, which completely failed to bring in business and is going to take decades to pay itself off. It was a terrible investment by a terrible mayor turned terrible governor turned terrible Vice presidential candidate. But at least she figured out how to put state owned property on ebay. PS. She came into office, then immediately fired the entire Alaskan dairy branch and replaced it with her cronies who proceeded to celebrate by running the business into the ground. Then, shockingly, all of the state equipment was sold off to aforementioned cronies who, even more shockingly, are now running a business just like the old state farm dairy industry! Daily Kos: State of the Nation C) As I've mentioned before I have the mentality of a Republican and the heart of a Democrat. I have been surrounded by charlatans and hacks my entire life, view no one without criticism and trust only myself. The only difference between the cynical Republicans is that when I was faced with the realities of humanity's flaws I didn't hide behind a shield of isolation for the rest of my life. Who's the better man? Spoiler Alert, click show to read: D) In actual intellectual discussions about this electoral season I am well reasoned and critical of Obama and the Democratic party. I was given the chance to ask Obama a question about anything my heart desired during a town hall meeting, and I chose to grill him on his support for FISA and telecom immunity. You guys just aren't worth of my intellectual discussion, because any intellectual discussion is drowned out by flames and name calling. And there's nothing wrong with that. That is what this board is, and I wouldn't have it any other way. If I want a debate, I will talk to my Republican co-workers. And if you're wondering, I have convinced 5 of 5 republicans not to vote for McCain and 2 of 5 to vote Obama. How many Democrats have you swayed to your side? Edit: What do you expect when you post stupid shit? H. Bush raised taxes, while Clinton balanced the budget that W. Bush tanked into a half a trillion dollars of debt. Who do you think people are going to trust more with taxes. Democrats are the party of fiscal responsibility, baby! Hope you like swinging blue when you realize who's better for your pocket book. Don't worry, I'll let you sit on the back of the bus.
