| Exactly. Why have cable when I can have Hulu? Sure, some things are later and some aren't there, but the ones that aren't I can find elsewhere on the internet. HEY GAIZ WHY AREN'T WE CHARGING THEM TO WATCH MOAR TV!? Since we can do more on the internet, they want to raise prices, even though the price to stream that data has gone down. |

| That's exactly what it comes down to. Cable companies want you to pay for cable and pay for the internet. The more the internet develops the less people need both and cable companies realize that they'll have significant cancellations in the near future that with a disturbing upward trend. Anything they can do do keep you paying two bills as long as possible is on the table. I'm watching less and less TV all the time because the content that I've been picking up, although infrequent now, is exactly what I want compared to homogeneity of television. Cinemassacre, That Guy with the Glasses, Atop the Fourth Wall, the Cinema Snob, The Spoony Experiment, The Escapist, Screw Attack, Nuklear Power, Penny Arcade, PvP, Daisy Owl, Cracked, Something Awful, The Angry Joe Show, Fires of Heaven, En World, and the ridiculous character optimization board on Wizards.com provide the content that I want. I like nerdy, vulgar content about movies and games. I care about gaming, damn it. I want to talk about theory and mechanics and see what other people have to say about them. Check this out, The Opinionated Star Trek - Opinionated Video Reviews Each week a Star Trek nerd tackles an episode. Usually it's Voyager but he's also been going through every episode from a show involving Q and some Enterprise and a little DS9. Nowhere but the internet can I get a weekly show analyzing a godawful episode of Star Trek Voyager. |

| Comcast is throttling the northeast again (or performing some "maintenance"), my stream speed has been cut by 80%, no exaggeration. I can barely watch youtube videos. I checked with other people in the district and its the same thing. Fortunately Verizon just showed up.

| Can only hope that the majority of everyday subscribers will recognize this as a bad thing. If comcast implements this and suddenly their subscriber base drops by 40%, nobody is going to try any such thing again for a long, long time. That won't happen though. The lemmings will play follow the leader all the way into the bear trap until they're paying $200 a month to visit youtube.
