| Flaccid Steel | The all-in-one phone thread Does anyone have the instinct? I was quite interested in it but I used the demo phone but it seemed to be laggy and not very responsive. Anyone own this phone care to comment? I don't really want the iPhone because theres a) a waiting list b) the plans are extremely expensive compared to what I can get with another provider can a mod change the thread title pls

+4 Internets | I don't have an Instinct but had an LG Dare, Verizon's new touchscreen phone. The touch screen was honestly troublesome for me, had a lot of false positives when pressing things on the screen and the internet browser was rather cumbersome to use. The Dare (and Instinct) as far as I'm concerned didn't offer enough functionality for me to feel its justified in being burdened by a touchscreen. From what I've seen, if you want a good touchscreen phone, the iPhone is the only good option at the moment. I myself swapped in my Dare for a Chocolate 3 and am quite happy. I won't try another touchscreen phone for another few years, will give the non-Apple phone companies time to perfect their interfaces, touchscreen responsiveness, and whatnot. |

| The Instinct is garbage. My buddy works at a Sprint place that has them, and they are shit. The software is garbage, it touts crap like "voice activated dialing" which is the biggest shit ever. Garbage! ![]()

| I avoid touchscreen like the plague unless it has an actual keyboard. I think that's why I love the blackberry curve so much; it's got a full keyboard, but it's also sophisticated and small enough to be for both professional or casual use.

| I've been looking to upgrade my old basic sprint phone. I'm trying out the HTC Touch but it's really not impressing me. I'm interested in opinions on the Mogul and 800w now. More info?

+2 Internets | I picked up the instinct a week ago, I love it to death so far. I have 0 complaints about it. It's very responsive, the touchscreen is great for texting and the internet is blazing. I live in Idaho, where there aren't exactly a lot of people. Sprint hasn't upgraded the network here as much as I'm sure they have in more populus areas of the country. I'm sure the net and cell service would only improve in a larger area. |

| I also have an instinct, and its fucking awesome. Can't wait for football season with the NFL application...all game's audio + NFL network = win. Also, the streaming music and video is pretty good for being on a phone....microSD + changable battery are HUGE pluses over the iphone for me too. |

| I got a chance to play around with one. Its not a bad phone at all, but it fucking vibrates all the damn time (unless theres a option to turn it off). Seems like it drains battery life fairly quickly.

| Flaccid Steel | How does the Motorola Q9H do? the phone looks pretty nice to my eyes and has a nice feel to it (especially the keyboard). It seems fairly well received. I was thinking about the Touch Diamond but its gotten a poor review at cnet by the asian lady. The Touch pro seems to have some major improvements but its gonna cost an arm and I doubt its going to be released here anytime soon by a canadian phone provider.

| I just picked up a Samsung SCH-i760 that I think is pretty sweet. One of only 2 phones from Verizon with Wifi so you can get online without paying them $45 a month for a data plan, and although it has a touchscreen, it also has a full set of real buttons. I find I use both depending on the situation. A lot of apps require a touchscreen, but it's very nice to not be stuck with touchscreen only, especially if your fingers are as big as mine. Biggest upside to Windows Mobile is being able to open word and powerpoint documents, sync to outlook, etc. I did buy a skin that gives it a somewhat more iphone like interface since windows mobile isn't very finger friendly (everything is designed to be poked with the stylus). The phone is a little bit thick but otherwise I have no complaints so far. Last edited by Brutul Tarew Marr; 08-18-2008 at 06:30 PM.. |
