| From earlier post(s) stating the 16 year old lifeguards checking the weight limits of people... The staff at the park should be qualified and stick to the park policies of the weight requirements. I know that would fuck people over and give them potential lawsuits for discrimination but really... imo the park should have been engineered for higher weights than what it is if they were smart. My cousin's husband was on a slide at a park in Myrtle beach SC. He slid down and there wasn't enough water so when he got to the bottom it stopped him and somehow blew out both his knees. He's suing the park because one of those young kids that worked there knew there wasn't enough water on the slide and it was potentially dangerous. Seems to me like the parks should be hiring more qualified people if they want to avoid these issues as well.

| Building larger capacity slides isn't an answer to the problem of being sued for the "mental distress and embarassment" or whatever when Tommy tells you that you and your family are too fat and when you argue busts out a scale nor does it do anything to solve the problem of obesity. |

| Profesionnalism is a pretty rare quality among teens working in summer, and that's pretty much the only people willing to work at those places. Dunno about you, but when I was working at 16, It was to have the money to get shit faced once the sun went down, I did a good job but didn't care all that much either. If you think Timmy is going to tell Mr. Fatty McFly that he should stick to the pool because he may be too big for the installations (which would just get him yelled at by Fatty and his boss anyway), i've got some news for you. Likewise with water levels and such : it's a lill low but still isn't an obvious danger? For the average worker there that means "good enough". | I agree, the park should be responsible and weigh people to ensure the safety of those that attend. People that are too heavy for the rides should be required to wear HUGE signs around their necks that say 'HEAVY LOAD' so no one mistakenly lets them on the dangerous rides. |

| A complicated weight-based trap door that sends fatties down an alternate chute to a Sweeney Todd style oven and/or rancor pit would be an acceptable solution for me. Also, hiring more qualified people at is a pretty funny idea. At least the six flags here has a ridiculous amount of trouble finding people who will even come to work. One of my friends literally had 5 no call no shows and was still working there. Shit, even working in chain restaurants that will get you fired on the spot. How does the lack of water in the slide make you blow out your knees? I can see it making you lose speed or stop entirely for sure. Do you all regularly see signs posted for weight limits on water slides? I don't recall ever seeing them at Six Flags, King's Island or that Wet n Wild place in Indiana. |

+10 Internets | But like, what if you qualify for that weight trap door, but you're not a fatty? For instance, someone who is 6'4'' 250 (NFL DE or LB maybe) are they too heavy? |

| ROFL Zarcath i was thinking the same thing, a "You must squeeze by this railing" to get on the ride thing. I can see it now, fatties lining up trying to figure out what its supposed to do, or a news event where a fatty gets stuck trying to squeeze though. LOL |

| + internets "Precision Visual Assessment of Obesity" They should start weighing people. Maybe enough people will be embarrassed about their weight to do something about it. Hell they already are starting to charge people two tickets on airplanes its about time they start talking about it. There's a price to being fat. It sucks. That's life. Every time I see a medical show about some fat person saying "We all don't understand!!!" and then eating a whole box of twinkles a day I just shake my head. Some fatass on the web got gastric bypass surgery after they "tried everything" and right after then lost 20-50 lbs and were so excited about how well it worked they posted that they didn't even look at cupcakes the same! Now they don't hunger for them all the time and they don't need to have a secret candy stash! They can't even eat 3 mcdonalds big mac's! How the fuck do people NOT see this behavior as a problem? I'm not a healthy man. I'm about 200lbs and 5'9. I eat steak, a loaded bake potato, and garlic cheese bread for dinner. Even when I do that I still know that its probably not a good idea to stuff my face with a 6 pack of twinkes before I fucking go to bed...
