+16 Internets | First they came for our pisswater, and we said nothing... InBev chugs Anheuser-Busch All hail our new European overlords. The weak dollar has led to an even weaker beer company being snatched up by foreign hands. Part of me is saying "Good for them -- anything to jar some members of this country out of the complacent haze they're living in," and another part is screaming, "Noooooooo! Don't take our crappy beer!" A sign of things to come if the American economy keeps on its current path or merely a strange, unique situation? I, for one, am eagerly awaiting New York to turn back into New Amsterdam so I can buy pot brownies down the street. |

| People are going to go apeshit around here. AB has such a huge cultural footprint in St. Louis. I, for one, mostly don't care. I mean, I guess it sucks, but all the good shit AB does for this city isn't going to go away if InBev's CEO is to be believed, so who cares. It will be interesting though. I know a bunch of people around here said they'd swear off AB forever if this thing went through. Kinda dumb considering the big brewery is right here and you'd only be hurting the locals that work there, but who said people have a clue? I suspect Schlafly will see a nice spike in sales in this town though. =)

| Whats interesting is that this happened in the 80s and 90s too, a bunch of Japanese companies bought a bunch of US real estate and companies when the yen was very strong. Years later, the dollar got strong and the yen weak, and most stuff got sold back to US companies at much cheaper prices. Of course nothing says this will repeat itself, the systemic problems in the US economy seem more widespread this time. |

+2 Internets | Well, they're getting somewhat broken in with Toyota having cars, so they'll get over the Bud buyout eventually. Just imagine what would have happened if Jr. was still driving the #8. Could you imagine him in an InBev #8 car? Oh, the humanity! |

| Don't really care about the beer angle, but this means an even larger trade deficit every year and more wealth flowing out of the US, which is obviously bad.
