The big problem I have is when the government starts hiding things behind national security in order to avoid governmental embarrassment.

Taking away the chance for multinational corporate news arms to make profits on this story is against the constitution.

Freedom of speech and not releasing info don't go hand in hand.

You are looking for the Freedom of Information Act which has no stipulation of a time line just that the information will be freely released to any of the public that wish to read it. That could be 25 years or it could be less or more.

Let's not assume that what is done is illegal.
We must have hope.

Dumbass.
The judge being a part of the government that would have something to hide if there was indeed corruption? Thanks for clearing up an obvious hypothetical statement meaning that the government hiding "secrets in the interest of security" is a double-edged sword.

Also, I'd love to know how knowing what specifically the massive war budget that is destroying Iraq is a matter of security? Like if it was revealed that the $23 Billion was used to build Weapon X, who cares? Does Dr. Wily go CURRRRRRSES and bite down on his cyanide tooth when we reveal precisely what insanely awesome firepower we're purchasing? Do the terrorists win when the citizens are educated?

If you want to dig deep into the conspiracy theories, 23 is such a bad number... and also just the idea that the American War Pigs have spent $23 Billion on secret stuff is enough to keep the machine running for plenty of years.

Question remains, Obama becomes president: do you really think this bullshit will end? He'll go down the conspiracist's checklist and say: "Oh snap, look at this: $23 Billion went to gold quail shot for Cheney's human hunting island."

If there is a shadow government, if Bush is really going to flee to his chunk of S. America he purchased and moved private militia to, you've got to be joking if you think they're going to go away any time soon or that measly policy written hundreds of years ago will do anything but help it maintain control.

I'll be scared the day that someone pretends that the mass populous knows all there is to know. I guess it's more noble to say "we're not telling you and it is for your own good."

Sorta like "trust us, you don't know how many nuclear wars we've avoided by a fingernail! You'd all be dead if it weren't for us and our military. FOR REAL"

Sounds like a Santa Claus fantasy of some sort. Gullible indeed.
He didn't say they were handed it by someone in their chain of command.

Contract work in Iraq, with American and international companies and also local contractors, is paid for in cash. The smaller of these contractors are actually paid with wheel barrels filled with bricks of cash by the various US reconstruction authorities.

To think that one of these contractors wouldn't pay off a couple marines to shut up about anything from faulty electrical wiring to a kid crushed under a truck is not entirely unreasonable.

Seriously Mist don't post in this thread.

You are a nutcase and you are either making this up as you go or your friends are taking you for the ride of your life.

You don't believe me about the wheel barrels full of bricks of cash?

Billions Wasted In Iraq?, U.S. Official Says Oversight Was "Nonexistent" - CBS News

Second video. Or read the article.

Quote:
"Fresh, new, crisp, unspent, just-printed $100 bills. It was the Wild West," recalls Frank Willis, who was the No. 2 man at the Coalition Provisional Authority’s Ministry of Transportation.

The money was a mixture of Iraqi oil revenues, war booty and U.S. government funds earmarked for the coalition authority. Whenever cash was needed, someone went down to the vault with a wheelbarrow or gunny sacks.

"Those are $100,000 bricks of $100 bills and that’s $2 million there," Willis explains, looking at a photo of brick-shaped stacks of money wrapped in plastic. "This, in fact, is a payment that we made on the 1st of August to a company called Custer Battles."
Custer Battles is based in Newport, Rhode Island, where I live, and I interviewed for a job writing contract proposals for them. (Can't legally say any more than that.) I can confirm this story is 100% true.

comical if true. "go get us 2 wheel barrels full" Wait make it 3.

i aint a hater, congrats to every contractor that got themselves their very own barrel of cash.

That must have made every exchange between companies very seedy. Did they count the cash right in front of them before signing the work order too?
