| I registered and I will be voting, but once again I don't really care for either candidate. The only thing I'd like to see that could maybe actually happen during the next presidential term is the creation of a "free" or subsidized healthcare system. However, I doubt that they will push it through. Corporations and lobbyists own politicians, not the people. |

| Voting really is pointless as long as the ellectoral college is the way it is. Unless you live in Florida/Ohio, a few other swing states, you might as well stay home and jack off on November second. The popular vote is meaningless, if you live in Ny or Ca and you are a Republican you're wasting your time. Likewise with most of the Jesus states if you are a Democrat. The college was designed during a time when people might live their whole lives without reading a fucking newspaper. The fact that we can count the popular vote for every single registered voter, and yet we cannot allow the people's voice to decide the presidency is utterly retarded. The college was designed when there was no Radio, Television, or Internet. What purpose does it honestly serve at this point in time other than to fuck people's voice based on geographic location?

| You think the people in the middle have no voice now? Eliminate the electoral college and then we really wouldn't have any. Presidential candidates would be campaigning and pandering to voters in California and New York and nowhere else. Because that is all they would need.

I agree that candidates would pander to voters in Cali +New York, ALSO in Texas. Entirely because these states have been secured to one side or the other in the past few elections, demo for California and New York, Republican for Texas. Here is a nice chart to chew on I found on wiki about the campaign strategy of 2004. Essentially if you didn't live in Florida, Ohio or Pennsylvania your vote was inconsequential. This is why voter turnout is so fucking low in the majority of the country, because most people get that their vote is meaningless and their state is completely lopsided to one party. "These maps show the amount of attention given to each state by the Bush and Kerry campaigns during the final five weeks of the 2004 election. At left, each waving hand represents a visit from a presidential or vice-presidential candidate during the final five weeks. At right, each dollar sign represents one million dollars spent on TV advertising by the campaigns during the same time period."
