| my favorite are the people who cant explain why some place of New Orleans are rebuilt by their own citizens who are equally as peniless, but other parts of the city havent been rebuilt. obviously in centuries before, when natural disasters happened, people just waited for their checks from the government to start rebuilding. oh wait..... that being said i dont think the government has any business making statements that it cannot guarantee. why the hell are we telling people who live next to oceans and rivers that they dont have to buy flood insurance??? the stupidity of FEMA and the reliance on the stupidity are what warrants some limited governmental liability. emphasis on the word limited. | Correct me if I'm wrong, but levees are there to protect against "100 year floods". This flooding has been called a 500 year flood. How can you be mad the government didnt build a levee to hold back water that is TWELVE FEET above the highest recorded flood in history in some places (going back 150+ years in some places in Iowa). Not that any of that is going to make this suck less for those people. |
