| Not to mention the fact that they are just going to bill their companies/clients for it anyways even if they never use it. Sorta like my Crown Room membership...

| Its about fucking time. In the past month my dad has had to make 5 business trips to Cleavland and has had to deal with an hour+ each way getting through TSA. He's works for a rather large government defense contractor on the F-35, he has security clearances, and gets a full background check every 5 years. A VP of the company was a long with him for one of the trips and that guy was detained for an extra 30 minutes because his toothpaste container was too large. (This is actually kind of funny, the travel size toothpaste containers sold by companies is .2 oz large then TSA's max limit.) I would classify these people as being justified to not need to go through TSA everytime theyre at the airport. |

| LAX is very hit or miss. I've had days where it's only taken me 20 minutes to clear the security line, and I've had days (even on off-days) where it's taken 2+ hours. To be fair, I can't say I've seen remarkably better or worse efficiency at any of the other major airports nationwide. What does suck about LAX is the new, absolutely retarded cab system. Just landed in LA and need a cab from the airport? It'll now take you about 4 hours, even if there are only 10 people in line ahead of you. Whoever thought up the new cab system needs a bullet in the head. |

| I just flew from Oregon to California and each airport had a "VIP" lane that firs class passengers from certain airlines could go through. They still had to get the security check, but the line was almost empty each time I saw it. |

| LAX is nothing compared to the shitshow of Heathrow or Narita. Fast passes have been in use in one form or another (business / Star alliance tags). What concerns me is if they catch on too well or are eliminated altogether if a US policy wonk assumes too many demographic profiles are subverting their highly trained screening system. The other worry is if airlines are in a pinch (they are) and elect to add express passes for every retail customer who is willing to pay a sweetener in either seat deals or multi-ticket packs (ie. tour groups), the speed through customs will be lost, as well as most of the benifits of flying "l33t air". |

When I get searched and they ask for ID, I'll show them my military ID. Most of the TSA people apologise to me and say they have to do it. Doesn't take more than 15 seconds, usually, but still....I know we're all PC and it's hard to complain about Big Brother when searches are random, but the FBI has profilers for a reason....because it's usually true. | |

| Osama has been racking up the frequent flier miles with his Saudi oil buddies in the US for years in anticipation of this. The only question now is will the nuke go off in LA or San Fran?

+1 Internets | Usually here it's alot longer to wait inline to check baggage in, but you can beat that if you can set up self check in & drop off luggage. Security was a bit worse a few more years back but its always slow even when not busy, they just close off the extra lanes.

Meanwhile, of course, testers are consistently able to get illegal objects past TSA. I don't think the organization is very effective, especially given the tremendous eceonomic impact associated with wasting even a few extra minutes of every traveler's time. Security is important, but an ineffective and expensive dog and pony show is not.
