| From what I read the 5950 is nothing more than a 5870 except with 6 video outputs for Eyefinity.

| I shot down from 200+ framerates in Vista to not even over 100 in Windows 7 on my i7 920 and 5870. Anyone have this issue?

| Quote: I had one question though: My system is reporting that 4gb of ram is present but only 3gb is usable. I'm using Win7 Pro 64-bit. Any ideas why it'd be doing that?

But I just had to upgrade systems since my E6850 motherboard refused to post after replacing a HD in preparation for installing Win7 that morning. So I ended up with an i7 860 and that exact motherboard. So some tips for that board are; 1) go into the BIOS and go to the CPU settings and go all the way to the bottom and enable the C-STATE setting. It's disabled by default (why, not sure). Normally your CPU is running at 2.66ghz and with the base turbo turned on it's at 2.8ghz if the cooling is adequate (which it usually is even with the stock heatsink). See AnandTech: Intel's Core i7 870 & i5 750, Lynnfield: Harder, Better, Faster Stronger However, the C-STATE setting in the CPU configuration secton (middle of page 3-21 of your motherboard manual) is what lets the CPU ramp up to 3.2ghz when 1 or 2 cores are active. 2) I'd say for a quicker start up, keep all your devices plugged into the light blue SATA connectors and turn off the Jmicron chip (onboard devices in the BIOS) as well as turn off the ASUS jumpgate option (look in the manual for this). These are things that turn on and have splash screens during start up that you'll probably never use. 3) If you want to overclock, I've found some things; bit-tech.net | Feature - Overclocking Intel's Core i5 750 Guide: Lynnfield Overclocking on Asus P7P55D Deluxe Mainboard - X-bit labs Last edited by Leadsalad; 11-07-2009 at 11:20 AM.. | |

| Aegdaien: Video cards take away from your ram total. I had 4GB of ram, and with two cards that use 896MB each, I was down to 2.2GB of ram left after the 1792MB had been subtracted. Your card leeches 1GB of ram from your usable total. |

+9 Internets | I had only heard this happening on computers with shared video memory. What's the point of Video RAM if the card is going to eat into your standalone RAM anyway?
