| Okay. With the motherboard I'm looking at, the only thing I could possibly do is Video card -> Fan -> Soundcard. How loud is 64dBA? I'm looking into getting this Newegg.com - Delta QFR1212GHE-F00 120mm Case Fan - Case Fans

| Last question before I put all my parts together in a cart and such. For case fans, some say 3/4 pin and others say 4 pin. I'm guessing the 3 pin would go into the motherboard and the 4 pin would go into the psu. Whereas the other one would just go into the psu. What's the difference? Is it that having a 4 pin case fan makes it less chances of frying the motherboard? ps, thanks ToeMissile. That graph helps A LOT. edit: Also added in Newegg.com - SENNHEISER PC166 USB 3.5mm/ USB Circumaural Headset NOT USED TO HEADSETS! If anyone has any recommendations, please, link them! I'm used to speakers, but I'm getting prepared for the loud fans. Still below my $1800 budget -- but, I'll most likely hit it once the new video cards come out.

| So, just stick with the 4 pin fans, then? You didn't really answer me. ![]()

Baulder's Gate, Baulders Gate II, Planescape: Torment, NwN, Orginal Fallout's to the ridiculously easy and short games of today. Today we compare how many hours a game will last instead of how many hundreds of hours of replayabiilty we would put into it.

| That pretty much sums it up. Im always disappointed when I look back at how fucking great Deus Ex was(best game of all time imo) and realize there will never be another game with its depth and gameplay. Someone really needs to take some old classics like Tribes, Battlezone, Deus Ex etc. and just port them into a modern engine. Leave everything else the same, just update the graphics.

Thats absurdly loud... as in it will sound like a vacuum running under your desk! Try the Scythe S-Flex lineup. Newegg.com - Scythe S-FLEX SFF21D 120mm Case Fan - Case Fans RPM: 800 RPM Air Flow: 33.5 CFM Noise Level: 8.7 dBA I use these "E" series for case fans: Newegg.com - Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E 120mm Case Fan - Case Fans RPM: 1200 RPM Air Flow: 49.0 CFM Noise Level: 20.1dBA Used to use this for CPU cooler (TRUE): Newegg.com - Scythe S-FLEX SFF21F 120mm Case Fan - Case Fans RPM: 1600 RPM Air Flow: 63.7 CFM Noise Level: 28.0 dBA Newegg.com - Scythe S-Flex SFF21G 120mm Case Fan - Case Fans RPM: 1900 RPM Air Flow: 75 CFM Noise Level: 35 dBA I put two of the F seiries in "push pull" on my Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme and it would easily cool my old QX9650 just above 4GHz and barely be audible if you had the side of the case open. The only people I have heard using that 200cfm monster Delta is for open top benchmarkers. That is in no way bearable for daily use.

| Thanks for the recommendations, Jysin. Do you have any recommendations for headset? Or is the one I listed good enough?

+66 Internets | Networking question: I have a new D-Link DIR-655, and an old DGL-4100. I was going to replace the old one with the new one, but then I realized I'm more or less out of ethernet ports because I'm also adding a Qnap439 NAS, but keeping my Dlink 323 NAS to backup the Qnap. My shit's going to be so redundant it's not even funny (and won't be should my building burn down). Basically I have these items to network: PC HTPC Dlink 323 Qnap 439 PS3 (possible future Xbox 360) Can I plug the two routers together and get them to work like that? I understand I'll have to make sure DHCP is shut off on the DGL-4100. What ports should be plugged together? I tried last night, with the WAN port on the 655 plugged to my modem, 3 ports to my computers and the Dlink 323, and then the 4th on the 655 was plugged in to the WAN port on the DGL-4100. It appeared to be showing up on the DHCP table of the 655, but when I tried punching in the IP address to log in to the setup for the 4100, it wouldn't find it. Prior to removing the 4100 from my network, I did NOT turn off the DHCP or change any settings, so is that the problem? Like I said, which ports should be connected to what, assuming I'm using the 655 as the router and DHCP server, and the 4100 just as a switch? More importantly, can I? Also, if you're considering buying a NAS, go with Qnap. I'm blown away by it so far, and I've barely even used it. I doubt I'll ever use more than 10% of the features on that little fucker. |
