Yeah, I find that stuff totally phoney and obnoxious. It was annoying back when John Edwards was doing it (perfect and lustrous though his hair may have been!). It was annoying when Obama started doing it. It was downright creepy when McCain started doing it. And it was robotic and painful when Hilldawg started doing it.

Still makes me think of the Jon Stewart video where Hillary mentioned the boy who sold his video games and bike to raise money for Clinton's campaign.

"...And I took it", jokes Stewart speaking as Clinton. lol.

Stewart then mentions how the boy, after donating, walked home from school to *not* play video games. :P

She never said she didn't take the money, so one assumes she did.


If she had any class, she would have thanked the young man for his willingness, encouraged him to keep his money, and shown a greater amount of graciousness by doing so. The flattery and desire to help should have been the issue, and would have elevated her campaign and image.

But yes, the "everyman" examples make me want to wretch.

No one mentions when Joe Shmoe researches a campaign platform issue, walks up to the candidate, and says, "WTF were you thinking when you took this particular stance on said issue? Did you pass it by economic/political advisors and researched the history and fallout of said policy?!"

Oh, wait, Joe Shmoes don't do that.
