I know you're gonna whine and bitch about my opinion, but it isn't going to change. When a celebrity puts their face on a tragedy they are buying something. When they give money like that they are buying something. The only way that isn't true is if they do it with complete secrecy.

And yes, if a celebrity puts themselves in the public eye for a particular cause I do expect them to give everything they possibly can if they're going to ask others to give money. Why are they special? They can't live like 99% of us? They need multi-millions sitting in the bank because it's necessary to their survival? You can't pretend to care about people in these situations and then go back to your cozy mansion.

How I feel about it just won't fly in a country like the usa. Most of us have been taught that it's morally okay to mass up lots of wealth and keep it for yourself, regardless of how it effects others. It bothers me a lot to see people who have that kind of wealth ask others to give when they themselves haven't sacrificed anything.

Do you have a cell phone? A TV? Cable TV service? A vehicle? Any other luxury items like a computer? You know, there is a point in life when most everyone is very cynical. We think we know the world in some deep philosophical way and that everyone else is just a cretin moron. However, for most of us we grow out of this when we are 15.

But not everyone.

i'm not referring to satisfaction in terms of what they buy. what they buy is no different than a shop buying supplies for it's main dish/sales item/whatever. doesn't have much to do with being cynical. what pisses me off most are the ones who ask for money while sitting on many millions.

He is saying the when the wealthy donate money/time to a cause its not valid since their resources are so extensive. But im sure he has no problem wasting money on cable,internet,cellphones and fast food while people starve.

When a famous person donates their face and time they are in essence donating millions of dollars to a cause. They are using the resource of their fame as a tool to help charities. And i promise they donate far more fucking time than yourself so calling them out seems petulant and stupid.
