This.

And don't forget to go out and do something else every so often during the week besides gaming together or you'll end up paying for it later.

Update!

So, I checked out the IKEA stuff, and well, I'm poor, and 1100$ for a desk wasn't my idea of awesome.

So, I went down to Lowe's, bought 64$ worth of supplies (mostly MDF, but she forgot to charge for a sheet of it, lol!) and began drawin'.

I started with two 4'x5' boards of MDF, and just patterned what I wanted on it, made some cuts, and designed some supports. I've got left over triangles I'll use to shore up the back, and we'll be mounting it to the wall to add additional support.

Will update more as I build it - if anyone wants my specs, I can surely send em to you, if you like what you see.

Tomorrow after class, I'll be adding the rest of the base and support, as well as building a mini-shelf for the 40" monitor to sit on.

This was WAY cheaper, and I think it'll look just as nice, really.

It's easy enough to dissasemble. I haven't nailed anything together yet for exactly that reason. I'm just going to set up all of the recessed screws and whatnot so that when I get there, I just have to put it together.

I like the design of that. You design it from scratch?

P.S. don't be a douchebag or you'll turn her off from it and she'll never come back.

I'd suggest adding a shelf/elevated area to put your screens on. I find them much more comfortable to look at 3 to 5 inches above desk level. Unless they have tall stands I guess.

Looks nice tho.

Yep. Nothing spectacular, but it seems to work pretty nicely as far as aesthetics go.

Yep, I haven't gotten around to it, but there's going to be a 6" elevated shelf in the middle, roughly 30"x12". The desk itself sits 40" tall and has 2 slide-out keyboard trays, also 30" for keyboard and mouse-pad. It's a bit taller than normal so I didn't have to make more shelves - plus she's a sloucher and I'm a recliner, so having more knee room is fine for the both of us.

I'll post more pictures as I get more time to work on it. I'm shoring up the back, since it's going to have to support weight with some triangle-shaped backing that'll help mount it to the wall.

After that, it's painting time. I'm probably going all black, but I'd have to ask her for any other color.

Oh, and when all is said and done, I'll post tits anyway.

I just found it incredibly amusing and ironic that a declared communist gave such a fantastic example of why his chosen ideology is destined to fail every single time.

Yeah, well, I'm not perfect, and I agree with you that humans are flawed and even I am a reason why it won't work now.

But one can dream.

Now, it just needs paint, disassembly, and moved to the new house!

Not bad for about 8 hours of work. If anyone wants the design specs, pm me I'll type them all up and even try to write a little manual for it (not that it'll be difficult or anything...)

I might be missing something here, but aren't you both facing away from the middle when you sit at it?
