+3 Internets | In my area Charter or satellite are my only options. We used to have charter phone, TV, and internet, but they fucked us on the phone lines so we canceled that. Our TV sucked so we got DirecTV. Satellite is too damn expensive so my only choice is Charter. Charter internet has been ok here. Every now and then if it rains bad, our cable will go out, or if its windy, because we live in the hills here with a ton of trees, it goes out every now and then. What other options are there? |

+15 Internets | If I'm not mistaken, only one cable company is allowed to offer their service per area. I've never heard of two cable companies offering their service in the same area. That basically means they can treat you like complete shit and get away with it in most areas in North Texas because all the other competitors are horrible for the reasons Furism stated. If you guys are having trouble with your cable internet during bad weather, tell your cable company. Very likely there is something wrong with your lead co-axil or your cable box. I've had these issues many times over the years and they always come out and fix them for no charge.

| What I did was just capped my upload at about 20ish (can't remember, I've since moved but its certainly not more than 30). With the upload capped you won't break more than 200 kb/s (at least I didn't) but its better than getting snared and reduced to .12 kb/s |

+13 Internets | The DLS by me is rather meh, mb/sec down and around 600kb/sec up, which gets me by for any gaming and casual torrents, but it's a fucking dog now that I'm downloading HD content. I'd love to switch to cable (Comcast by me I believe), but fuck me running if I'll give them a dime until they join the current decade with their bandwidth policies. Comcast also has a delightful tendency to insert extra local commercials into their programming as a nice bonus to their TV customers.
