Perhaps you are not used to traveling and by traveling I mean road warrior. A traveling man has to either eat hotel room service or make his way out to eat somewhere. Its nice to get recommendations from people you work with, but you don't always get a good recommendation or have the time to ask. And usually we get 50 to 75 a dinner to expense, so going to malls or bowling alleys just ain't what you will be looking for.

I'm not sure what constitutes Minnesota being "left in the dust." Imation is still here, as you mentioned Seagate is here... wait a minute was does this have to do with Minnesota being a good place to live. You do realize we have tones of huge companies here... Land O' Lakes, Cargill, Dupont, Target, Best Buy, General Mills, 3M, Ecolab, Northwest Airlines, Medtronic, Deluxe...

We are SO 20th century.
Dont forget Gedney motherfuckin Pickles!! I live in Chaska, not sure what magazine it was but it was voted one of the best places to live in MN. Not far from Chanhassen either, thats also a nice place to live too, and if your out late you might just catch Prince shopping at Byerlys, i think ive seen him twice now.

100000 people will tell you to avoid certain places. Ignore them all except the #1 answer.

There is one major shitty ghetto in every city and 50 "not-really-that-bad" black neighborhoods (often analogous to "ghetto"). Avoiding them will cut you off from some damn good food and women.

People love to fear-monger on their own city. It's like some sort of national status symbol to them. I don't get it and neither should you.

My 2cp.

Within 10 minutes of the Mall, there's a Bennigans, an Outback, several Ma + Pa'ish places right off 494, an Applebee's, there's a Chili's and our favorite pizza joint just south on 35E in Eagan. Inside the mall there's a Ruby Tuesdays, a Bubba Gump, Rainforest Cafe, some hawaiian theme'd joint we didn't like, Tony Roma's, the Twin Cities grill (much higher class than I usually enjoy) and probably a few more that the wife and I personally never go to. If you can honestly tell me that all of those places aren't good enough for you, well, then go suck a dick, because I really don't know what else to say. Maybe you're not familiar with the area, maybe you're traveling, maybe you've got 100 excuses. But to claim that there's no restaurants with an hour's drive of Bloomington is fucking retarded, and you're gonna get laughed at. Hah.

Wait, so you cruise for chicks in the ghetto? I think you and I might have different taste in women dude

The point is that there are areas that are worse than others to live. I grew up in Inver Grove. No crime, no drugs, no nothing. When I moved out, my buddy and I got an apartment on the West Side. I don't trash talk the West Side in this thread, because it's not THAT bad. But, lets face it..I ran off several kids breaking into cars in the parking lot, gunshots aren't an uncommon sound, the hallways smelled like weed more often than not, and just in general there's a lot more delinquent activity than one should have to tolerate.

I moved back to Inver Grove when I got married, and dunno that I'll move again. It's a nice place to live, and I don't need to put up with any of the above shit. I tell people what areas to avoid so they don't wake up in the middle of the night to someone breaking into their fucking car, not because I'm trying to be cool.

I will give MN props on their Hospitals though. I did wireless site surverys of 5 Fairview hospitals, I walked in pretty much every room of every floor and they were all really nice, some even brand new looking.

Home - HRL: Twin Cities Wiffleball

If you're looking for fun, try getting into the league. It's a lot more fun than Softball. Drinking and wiffle ball = win win.

Yea I play... got involved by posting, sayin hi, etc, talking to the commissioner and talking with people on the forums. I actually got in with my friends last year when a team dropped out and they needed replacements.

What name did you use to register? We have a game tomorrow, I'll talk with one of the mods. See if we can't get you forum access... I'm not sure of your chances of getting in quickly, we just started this season a few weeks ago. Coming out to the games is a good time too, just to meet people and see how the game goes. Plus I mean, most of us drink.

registered as Tarrant on the forums.

I wont be down there till June but I'll for sure check out some games when I get there, what team you play on, maybe we could set something up for the future.

Even if I can't get involved right away no harm in meeting people so that the possibility is open for the future. I'm not gonna know anyone and am pretty much starting my life over, so getting to know people is high on the list of things to do.
