Bush is going to attack Iran to try to get McCain in office to continue his fucked up policies.

'Bush intends to attack Iran before the end of his term'

JPost.com Staff , THE JERUSALEM POST May. 20, 2008

US President George W. Bush intends to attack Iran in the upcoming months, before the end of his term, Army Radio quoted a senior official in Jerusalem as saying Tuesday.

The official claimed that a senior member of the president's entourage, which concluded a trip to Israel last week, said during a closed meeting that Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney were of the opinion that military action was called for.

However, the official continued, "the hesitancy of Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice" was preventing the administration from deciding to launch such an attack on the Islamic Republic, for the time being.

The report stated that according to assessments in Israel, recent turmoil in Lebanon, where Hizbullah de facto established control of the country, was advancing an American attack.

Bush, the officials said, opined that Hizbullah's show of strength was evidence of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's growing influence. They said that according to Bush, "the disease must be treated - not its symptoms."

In an address to the Knesset during his visit here last week, Bush said that "the president of Iran dreams of returning the Middle East to the Middle Ages."

"America stands with you in firmly opposing Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions," Bush said. "Permitting the world's leading sponsor of terror to possess the world's deadliest weapon would be an unforgivable betrayal of future generations. For the sake of peace, the world must not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon."
This fucking idiot Bush should be put in prison.

Obama's people can call McCain a dementia-ridden warmonger but any non-positive mention of Obama from McCain's camp is below the belt, off limits, and personally offensive. Got it. Obama can say McCain is four more years of Bush but when people point out striking similarities between Obama's positions and Jimmy Carter's (then and now) that's a distraction. Got it. Just out of curiosity, what is McCain allowed to talk about?

Obama's so thin-skinned it seems like any mention of his name that doesn't come with genuflection and a blow job is so offensive that we should all be ashamed for living in a world where such a thing could happen.
Obama does not use gutter tactics. McCain in fact is a dementia-ridden warmonger. McSame appears to be 4 more years of Bush given his following in lock step with him on the issues. He changes his mind daily so that may change but for now he is following the Bush Doctrine. Obama has answered the Sean Hannity issues. Bringing them up over and over is nothing more than trying to use guilt by association even when that association is not there.

McCain can talk about the issues. Nothing more, nothing less. As I said before he will talk about issues until ultimately he starts to fall in the polls and then the "Sean Hannity Doctrine" will begin. Gutter campaigns are the last refuge of scoundrels. McCain will have a big red "SCOUNDREL" tattoo on his forehead by October. Probably earlier.

I don't know about Bush attacking Iran before he gets out of office thats just way to bad for the US in every way. We look like instant warmongers if he does that and to do it while on his way out of the white house is beyond low. It would be a pretty much unprovoked attack and any justification would be pretty baseless compared to countries who need our help where genocide is currently going on.

Seriously starting another war at this point is like trying to start WWIII we need to get off this war track and just let other countries be. I don't think Bush will go that low and I don't think as a country we can afford to just go around attacking anyone. Man we need better leadership.

I really doubt this will happen. Looks to me to be another fabricated piece by the media. "Unnamed", "Senior Official", etc. Not saying its impossible, but I don't see it happening. This would be extreme political suicide, and even someone as stupid as Bush would understand that.

Don't worry. Obama will fix everything with his policy of appeasement of meeting with Iran without any preconditions. (Or did he flip-flop on that one?)

For starters, your own messiah said that Jeremiah Wright was a legitimate issue to talk about in the campaign, while McCain said it wasn't. Yet you still use it as a basis to rail against McCain in vicious personal attacks, and still accuse McCain of gutter politics while maintaining that your shit is as pure as the driven snow.

Karl Rove is a sneaky man. By the time IRB is done, all the old Jonestown jokes will be replaced with Obamamania jokes.

Question: Do you think that Reverend Wright is just the victim here?

OBAMA: No. I think that people were legitimately offended by some of the comments that he had made in the past.

The fact that he is my former pastor I think makes it a legitimate political issue. So I understand that.

I think that it is also true that to run a snippet of 30-second sound bites, selecting out of a 30-year career, simplified and caricatured him, and caricatured the church. And I think that was done in a fairly deliberate way.

Correct me if I am wrong, but would he not need congressional approval for that? If he tried to do that, would he not pretty much face mutiny from the various levels of government and military?

I really don't think even Bush is dumb enough to do such a thing, unless they manage to fabricate some Gulf of Tonkin incident, and I'm not a big believer in conspiracy theories most of the time. Hopefully Iran isn't fucking dumb enough to give them an incident they can play off, anyway.

Did you not take anything away from that Chris Matthews embarassment of the Republican yes-man? Negotiation and diplomacy are NOT appeasement. Appeasement is giving up territory, or incentives like "oh hey fine build a nuclear reactor just play nice". What exactly has Obama offered to Iran that would count as appeasement? Has he offered to give them Lebanon or Israel, or parts of Iraq? If not, then shut the fuck up about appeasement already, you're sounding like that asshole on Hardball just screaming "APPEASER, APPEASER" over and over again without even fucking knowing what it means or what it references.

The Republican party is demonizing Mahmud Ahmadinejad but does not realize that Ali Khamenei is the Supreme Leader of Iran. Not only that but Khamenei condemned the attack on 9/11. However, the idiot Republicans are beating the drum beat of war against Ahmadinejad.

Here is the new Idiot-in-Chief of the Republican party making yet another gaffe due to his ignorance and fear of the Muslim world. Look how smug this guy is.

The President has the power to order the US Military anywhere to do anything, and he only has to seek approval from Congress after 30 (or is it 90?) days.

That sentence makes little sense. The current administration other than Bush (Condi, etc) want to talk with Iran. Appeasement is giving them their demands in exchange for an agreement on their part to stop doing whatever they are doing.

They are allowed to pursue peaceful nuclear energy as persuant to the Non-Proliferation Act that they (and lots of other countries, including the US, but excluding Israel) have signed.

They have met all IEAE (or whatever the acronym is) guidelines, and things are moving along smoothly.

Eomer covered it well.
