Really I have no fucking clue what rock you have been living under post 9/11. The right has been spewing the any criticism of Bush, the war, gitmo, ect ect means you are unpatriotic. Saying otherwise is IRB level of stupidity.

I think it's going to be ugly from both sides. It won't be just the GOP spouting the hate and rhetoric, they'll both be doing it. Right now we're hearing the vocal parts of the left and right (i.e. the extremes), but once election day rolls around, the middle is the ultimate decider. Anyone who thinks they know how this is all going to play out is full of crap. The one thing IRB is right about is that the people who want McCain to win (or Obama to lose, depending on how you look at it), will certainly throw some shit around. However, to think that the Democrats will be some sort of holy guiding light of perfection is fooling themselves. Do you really think that Main Page - McCainPedia is going to be fair? That's just the beginning, folks. I'm not excusing either side from it, either. It's shitty politics and it's a shitty way to drag this country through an important election. But, unless everyone on both sides signed some sort of blood-oath to be nice, that ain't gonna happen.

+5 Internets | Okay, you can call us left biased or whatever and I guess in the political spectrum I sort of am on quite a few issues (mostly social) but what do you guys think about McCain's crazy flip flopping on so many issues as documented here. Also what do you guys on the right think about him flip flopping on his ability to understand economics? In one of the debates documented here he basically said he didn't know wtf the question meant and he's not an expert on economics but rather war. Later on he proclaimed that he was very experienced and knew quite a bit about economics due to being on some congressional committee's. He then proceeded to fake an answer to Ron Paul on a subject but his answer was full of ridiculous holes as he clearly did not understand wtf he was talking about. That was also in this thread. What do you guys think about him, really? Do you really think he's smarter then the average individual (also he graduated near the bottom of his 800-900 person class, around being the 5th last person)? |

I'll tell you exactly what I think. First, I think that his catering to the extreme right in order to get that part of the vote is going to hurt him. I believe that he got the nomination because he sold himself as a moderate. Once he won, dumbasses like Limbaugh and Coulter started saying he was as bad as Hillary and all sorts of other dumb crap. In my opinion, that should have been a clue that he was doing something right! If he doesn't get back on track and become the candidate that he was to win the GOP nom, it's going to really hurt. I am not sold on McCain, but I'm also not sold on Obama. There are quite a few months and debates that will happen before the election and I'm reserving my vote until then. Flip flopping is what completely killed John Kerry (among other things, but this was the biggest for me). I cannot STAND when a candidate panders to whatever group they happen to be speaking in front of at the time. You can't talk to the NRA and claim to love guns one day, then talk to a mother's group and claim to hate guns the next. I don't think you have to be the smartest guy in the world and, frankly, someone's grade in college doesn't impact my choice. He's been out of college for XX years (which is another topic, yeah), so the fact that he did poorly XX years ago doesn't mean crap. I DO think, however, that the President needs to realize the areas he's weak in and find the best help. Economics not your strong point? Hire some damn good economists. Weak on defense? Guess what....you got a built in answer for that one (as long as you listen to them). etc. How's that for an answer, Kaio?

Stick to your damn guns, people! I swear, even the strongest of candidates will waffle on a position if they think it'll get one more vote (and it usually backfires).

+5 Internets | Most of what you said I can probably understand and a lot of it I agree on, Burf. I hate pandering politicians. I agree that grades in school isn't the most important factor but it is a factor and shows to a slight degree how well someone grasps concepts and also how much work they put in. To be at the very bottom you pretty much have to be way below average in both hard work and ability to grasp concepts naturally. Also it's important to realize, imo, that all experts/advisers aren't as skilled as they claim to be and you have to be smart enough to know whom to listen to and whom to assign. Bush appointed lots of morons and didn't seem to be particularily good at taking advice and we've seen the result of that in the mishandling of numerous things. McCain's current advisers seem to be weaker then Obama's. Obama's talking points are usually stronger and his opinions usually jive better with experts then McCain's or Bushes. McCain ridiculed him for suggesting that we use our military in the Pakistani area where Osama might be held up and had lots of Al Qaeda in the area. Pretty soon after that the military did just that. I doesn't seem like McCain is stronger then him in either war or the economy. Obama's advisers curently are superior to McCain's. I'm mostly leaning towards Obama right now because the competition is very very weak atm, imo. |
