Thank you for your compelling argument as to why.

If that is the same OCR scan I read, look at page 139 (of 225), which is her main conclusion. The important aspect of her paper is dividing groups by race rather than class. Who has more political influence on Obama himself than his wife and pastor?

That's a boys. Keep trying to attack everyone around Obama because you know you won't be able to win attacking him directly. Keep it up. I'll help.

Do your wife and pastor tell you who and what to vote for, or do you tell your pastor and wife who and what you're going to vote for?

Only if you're a Republican, good sir. Us Democrats, we all married militant feminists.

Can parallels be drawn between Jeremiah Wright and Pastor John Hagee, who famously said that God pwned New Orleans because of a gay pride parade (but still missed the French Quarter, lawl).

Obama has denounced Wright, but McCain asked for Hagee's endorsement.

Under what circumstances would I marry someone who doesn't closely share my same views? Wouldn't those differences get fettered out in the dating stage?

Similarly, I wouldn't attend a church for long where the pastor made statements I couldn't sympathize with.

Here are two people with significant impact on how my kids are raised. You better believe I make sure we see eye-to-eye.

I think it's going to be pretty cut and dry.

At the first presidential debate, and probably the only one, people will finally see Obama and McCain side by side. The points of the debate will probably be minor compared to what people will see. A young vibrant candidate and and old, stiff, white haired one. Game over. It's gonna be Kennedy vs Nixon all over again.

I'm not saying it's a fair way to decide. But a lot of people are going to base their decision on what they see. And McCain loses that to Obama. I suspect that all those questionable red states - Indiana, N.Carolina, Colorado, Texas, Florida, will all follow Obama because of that.

As VP choices, their impacts are pretty minimal to the public as we've seen, but it would be good if Obama were to pick a military man like Clark or Powell, although I think he can probably pick almost anyone. McCains choices are much harder, but I think it will be someone who is less well known generally.

How many times did McCain attend one of Hagee's sermons? Did McCain mention Hagee in a book as having a significant impact on his life? Did Hagee marry John and Cindy?

To answer your question of whether or not parallels could be drawn, I would say no. If you want to go down the road of analyzing who sought after what endorsements, you can drop me off here. That would make Obama accountable for every super-delegate, Union, and lobby he has courted so far.

Texas is not a questionable red state. We're firmly crimson.

See, I can rationalize why McCain would seek an endorsement from Bush. He is the incumbent from the same party and represents of constituency of social conservatives that McCain needs to win. Have you ever had a boss or someone higher in your company that you didn't like or respect? He gives up nothing by giving that man a hug. He stands to lose everything if he openly rejects him.

I cannot rationalize how Obama would marry someone he doesn't agree with on topics as serious as race. I am pretty sure dropping racist comments early in my relationship with my wife would have ended it long before our wedding.

I cannot rationalize sitting in the pews after someone says "God Damn America". There is no way I would knowingly bring my kids to a place like that.

How do you rationalize it? Feel free to use your own personal anecdotes.

Which is what every political discussion comes down to. There is no arguing this at this point. I feel you're retarded for making the point to begin with, and you can rationalize why you did. There mere fact you feel you have to is what is interesting. You know that McCain can't win this on his own, so you must rely on the FoxNews/Hannity/527's to win for him. This is the new GOP, ladies and gentlemen.

There are very clear sociological differences between black Americans and white Americans. Michelle Obama (who is not running for President) wrote a scholarly thesis about some of those differences at a highly respected University.

What needs to be rationalized?
