Did you actually leave the touristy areas? Because every time I visit Hawaii it's well out of the Honolulu area, lots of locals and military types, everyone's damn friendly in my experience. But then again, I'm Canadian.

The legality of the US Takeover of Hawaii has been brought into question numerous times, and Grover Cleveland even admitted it wasn't legal - which may mean Hawaii isn't even ours to begin with since you know.. a President said it was illegal, said he was sorry etc.

Hostile take-overs aside, the thing I objected to most was the special treatment they were getting simply based on their race. If any other group tried that shit (locking up the building and denying access to state property) they would be hauled off in cuffs.
