Who is to decide what's "good for the community?" What sort of central planning nightmare would you like to put us through, Mao? I'm sure you've got some brilliant 5 year great leap forward plan all cooked up.

There you go with generalizations again. I'm digging how you jump to extremes with great ease - you must be well-practiced.

Here's a shocker - the people in the community decide what's good for the community. Mind bottling, I know!

That's some beautiful circular logic there. Very mind "bottling."

American automotives have dramatically increased in efficiency throughout the years. Most of that efficiency has gone towards gadgets and performance though. It's not that we can't; it's that the American consumer does not want it---or more correctly does want it but not at the sacrifice of the aforementioned performance gains.

No. Not even close.

Well there were places where that was happening 40 years ago as well, Dak, is it directly because of overpopulation though? Aren't most famines more about politics than the actual ability to feed the people?

It's a combination of things. Politics play a role in inefficient resource management and profiteering but the problem will be exasperated by population growth.

Do you know which other Fascist thought that thoughts could get trapped in your head like a bottle?

Hitler did.

Famines nowadays are caused by politics, not lack of rain clouds. Just ask Zimbabwae, pretty sure they can paint you a pretty clear picture in regards to that. Ofcourse using corn for ethanol production instead of feeding animals/humans is just as fucking retarded, which also has a slight effect on things.

I am personally 1 example of how gas prices have effected my car buying.

when Diesel hit 4.30 a gallon I traded in my truck for a 2009 Camry Hybrid. I get double the gas millage and it costs less to fill up. When I had the truck I would try my hardest to not go anywhere. Literally spending every weekend around the house.

Now I have no problem driving two blocks for milk and smokes

If societies reorganized themselves to use far less oil as prices rise, demand would fall and prices would too. Pretty simple equation there..

Did you know the second richest guy in China, makes solar panels?

Did you know Brazil is 100% energy independent via Ethanol?

We are being 100% lied to, PERIOD. If you honestly think Solar Panels or Bio-Diesel's are not viable technologies, you are a retard. Technology suppression is a reality. We did NOT run out of whales and horses people, we moved on to the next thing. It is long past due to bury the oil companies, all it takes is a president that actually gives a fuck about the economy.

GM and Ford cannot give a car away in another country. We produce garbage, because a few select elitists wish to remain at the top of the food chain.
Some of those poor countries overseas are calling our use of ethanol an outrage and crime against humanity because the price of grain is skyrocketing so we can put fuel in our cars made with more ethanol and they aren't eating anymore.

I don't know that ethanol is the best way to go... even if Brazil is cool and they're doing it...

I like the ideas of the solar panels but that's a lot of land to give up. It's not a big deal right now but in the future all the land we use for solar panel fields is going to be a big deal. I think if we could just put those on the roofs of every house it would be more practical than fields of those things. I think everyone's house being on a power grid and being a source of energy to meet our energy needs sounds pretty cool.

Well played, Tool, well played. Except, I'm the one funnelling nonsense, according to your quote (Marxist).

Your roof idea is spot on - and perchance, what exactly do we use all of those square miles of hot, sunny, arid desert for?
