| Who is to decide what's "good for the community?" What sort of central planning nightmare would you like to put us through, Mao? I'm sure you've got some brilliant 5 year great leap forward plan all cooked up. |

+1 Internets | Well there were places where that was happening 40 years ago as well, Dak, is it directly because of overpopulation though? Aren't most famines more about politics than the actual ability to feed the people? |

| Famines nowadays are caused by politics, not lack of rain clouds. Just ask Zimbabwae, pretty sure they can paint you a pretty clear picture in regards to that. Ofcourse using corn for ethanol production instead of feeding animals/humans is just as fucking retarded, which also has a slight effect on things.

| I am personally 1 example of how gas prices have effected my car buying. when Diesel hit 4.30 a gallon I traded in my truck for a 2009 Camry Hybrid. I get double the gas millage and it costs less to fill up. When I had the truck I would try my hardest to not go anywhere. Literally spending every weekend around the house. Now I have no problem driving two blocks for milk and smokes ![]() Quote:

I don't know that ethanol is the best way to go... even if Brazil is cool and they're doing it... I like the ideas of the solar panels but that's a lot of land to give up. It's not a big deal right now but in the future all the land we use for solar panel fields is going to be a big deal. I think if we could just put those on the roofs of every house it would be more practical than fields of those things. I think everyone's house being on a power grid and being a source of energy to meet our energy needs sounds pretty cool.
