If you used any tax prep software and they took their payments from direct deposit, the IRS does not actually have your direct deposit info. They have the bank of the company you used to help file. I did this with turbo tax, was surprised when I didn't get the direct deposit when I was supposed to, and found out that was why.

Bingo, this was the problem.

I just got this email today. Figures the government would leave out important info, and be unable to tell me why i'm getting a check, but private business gives me the info I need, albeit late. I assume you got this info too, since you used TurboTax.

We want to provide you with the most up–to–date information about the tax rebate to which you may be entitled.

Recently, you may have received a letter from the IRS advising you when to expect your Economic Stimulus Payment (rebate). That IRS letter may have inadvertently left off some important information. Taxpayers who chose to have their tax preparation fees deducted from their federal tax refund will receive their tax rebate in the mail, not via direct deposit.

Our records show that you chose this payment option in TurboTax. As a result, the IRS has determined that you will receive your tax rebate in the mail. This may result in you receiving your rebate on a date later than expected.

Yeah, it's working np though. I used tax-engine.com, and got my check in the mail yesterday.

I used Turbotax online, but I paid the fee with my credit card, not taken out of my return (I think the pay with return option added another $29 to their fee, or something crazy like that?).

It was free for me. If they added another $29 just too take it out of my existing return, I wouldn't have done that option.
