| For anyone that still has not received theirs yet and falls into the lower number range, I checked tonight and now my info is showing up on the IRS web page. For who knows what reason, I am getting a mailed check. Holding my tax forms in my hand, they are certified for direct deposit. The only thing that I can think of, is that I had to pay for Federal instead of getting any actual deposit..who knows if that makes a difference though. |

| I got money back, and filed online, and did direct deposit, still nothing for me. Its no biggie though. I don't need the money this instant and its really no suprise that the government would screw this up. |

| So just wanting to get this straight. Will this stim check come from what we get in our 2008 tax return? Link to that info? And if I get the 300+ dollars they give me now. I don't pay that back correct? Edit: Or maybe I'll just answer my own question. Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008? A. No, the stimulus payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return. Last edited by Dontauro; 05-13-2008 at 04:35 PM.. |

+1 Internets | For those that still haven't gotten it: "SAN FRANCISCO -- Human error and computer glitches at the Internal Revenue Service were responsible for up to 350,000 households not receiving a $300 per child economic-stimulus payment, the Associated Press reported late Thursday. About 130 million taxpayers were meant to benefit from the $168 billion economic-stimulus package, according to the AP. An IRS spokesman told the AP that those who did not receive the payments have been identified, and that the IRS will send the checks out in July." |

| I've got no idea. It makes no sense. Its cheaper to do direct deposit. Its faster, and overall more convenient. Then again, I guess with unlimited financial resources, they don't have to worry about the cheaper part. |

| If you used any tax prep software and they took their payments from direct deposit, the IRS does not actually have your direct deposit info. They have the bank of the company you used to help file. I did this with turbo tax, was surprised when I didn't get the direct deposit when I was supposed to, and found out that was why. |

| Just received my 600$ I filed with turbo tax. I did have my refund direct deposited and I paid the turbo tax fee when I filed my; taxes myself and NOT with my refund.

Now since then, I have also received something in the mail saying when to expect my check, so, it does seem to all add up. My wife used the same accountant, everything was set up exactly the same, but as she got a refund, she already has her $600 via direct deposit. Edit- To avoid confusion, we were not married at the time of filing. Last edited by Flood950; 05-16-2008 at 07:03 AM.. | |

| Well, apparently my wife and I only qualify for $600, since we used our IRA's to reduce our taxes owed (to below $600 total). As a couple, you get a minimum of $600, but no more than $1200. If your total taxes owed on the year is between $600-1200, you get whatever you owed. |
