| Baltimore or DC? So I'm gonna be graduating in a few weeks and moving to Maryland. My new job is right between these two cities (Laurel, MD). I don't know much about neither Baltimore nor DC, so I figure I'd come here and ask which would be a better city to live near. More specifically, which city has a better live music scene and restaurants? |

| B'more. DC is a shitty ass city. Laurel is closest to Baltimore as it is. I grew up in Columbia (where apparently rich white people live now), which is right next to Laurel. Try to find a place in Howard, Montgomery, or Ann Arundel county. |

+5 Internets | You should live in Laurel. DC and Baltimore are great to visit but the you definately won't want to live right near either of those cities, Laurel has plenty of stuff going for it. Montgomery County is one of the best places to live in the Country.

I agree with the Montgomery county (as I have lived there before) because it's one of the nicer counties in Maryland. If you're going to live in DC, don't live in the ghetto. BAD idea. Baltimore is all ghetto, sure enough!

| I'd live in Laurel (not PG side, its ghetto) or Columbia. I lived in Laurel (PG side) before moving to the Howard county side (now nyc), truly amazing what a 15min drive changes. It's about 20 miles from both DC/Balt so the drive isn't bad if you want to go to either city, if DC, just take the metro. Laurel/Columbia have pretty much everything you need though. Just curious, where in Laurel are you working? |

| DC is a great place to be young these days. Lots to do, lots of people, good vibe. Baltimore has its charms, but I'd much rather live in or near Washington. My advice is to find something on the outskirts of the city reasonably close to the metro. Some of the younger people who work for me live in Tenleytown and love it. |

| Like mattsb said and I will add on, Maryland/Virginia/DC is great because of the metro. You can literally get to anywhere, hassle free. It's idiot proof. =P

+7 Internets | I have friends in the Georgetown area of DC and I had a great time visiting. The area looks really nice but from what I understand the rent isn't cheap. |

| I have lived in DC, the suburbs of Virginia (Northern Virginia right outside of DC), Baltimore and the suburbs of Baltimore. I have to say without a doubt, you do NOT want to live in Baltimore City. Ever. Under any circumstances. If you can, find a nice area in the suburbs surrounding DC, like Chevy Chase, or Northern Virginia (Arlington, Fairfax, McLean). I grew up in Towson, and that's ok too. If you have to live close to Baltimore, make sure you live in an area considered part of "Baltimore County", which is a seperate entity from the city, and has much better schools/far more money. If you have to live in a city, live in DC. |
