| Apparently there was a observed record Arctic sea ice melting summer 2007, but there was also a record sea ice growth rate winter 2007. "Here's how NASA explains the record re-growth of ice over that 10-day period in October and November:" Quote:

+54 Internets | You can watch the senate debate live: CNN.com Live The past 10 minutes they've been arguing if someone can reclaim their time if they haven't spoken for the whole 20 minutes given to them. The Senator from California is giving back 7 minutes to the Republican Senator, but the Senator from Virginia is objecting to the Senator from California getting her time back in return. Clarify if a senator asking one question to another senator, if that takes up the time of the senator asking the question - even if the other senator didn't answer it. And could they just share the time? Anyway, it's hilarious. Seems they have now cut the mics for a role-call to see if they have a quorum to make a call on the previous questions. If only they had given him the 5 minutes, they could have saved half an hour ![]() His argument, btw, is that a cap & trade system would drive up energy prices by 50% - and he wants people to visualize opening their utility bill and seeing that increase Also, landowners who currently have trees planted could sell credits for keeping the trees around. This doesn't sound like any cap & trade system I've ever heard about... the common proposal is that the government auctions off a limited number of certificates that are then traded on the open market. You can't create new credits by planting trees, you can only buy or sell the existing certificates. edit: the call for the quorum has been retraced. |

+4 Internets | WTF, isn't there a reason they have a chairman in these things or does this kind of meeting not have it (or do they need a fucking vote on what the chairman should be dong)? I haven't seen an official senate meeting in probably ten years (i have seen bits and pieces), c-span is not my favorite channel. |
