Computer linked security camera?

So, people have been stealing shit out of my room, and it's getting old at this point. When they start going through all my pills and shit that i have and its more then just my cologne or clothes it starts to aggravate me.

So i want to set something up in my room i can monitor, something that ideally i don't have to monitor all day (motion sensor?) i don't know how the software works for this stuff.

So, something that will just tell me if people are doing shit in my room i guess would sum it up the best, without me having to go through 24/7 of nothing being recorded.

My laptop has a built in webcam feature that motion detects as well, pretty sure there is a regular webcam out there that does the same. It doesnt start recording until there is movement then records it until it stops. Apparently it even has a feature that will send an email alert when motion is detected.
