| Anywhere in the World, where would you go? Long story short, Ill be taking 15 days of RR here in November and the gov. will play for a ticket to anywhere in the world and back. Only thing that really puts me off about traveling to a foreign country(I could be going home for thanksgiving ) is the language barrier. Being some lost retarded in another country asking for directions to here or there is something I dont want to be.Anyways, where would you go and what would you do? What cities would you go to or places of interest would you go to?

+17 Internets | there's a number of places that I'd like to go, but if the ticket was free I'd go to Japan. I go to Europe on business and can easily tack on a week of vacation onto that so I basically get a free ticket to Europe. So yeah, Japan. Most young people will speak English, the women will love you, and there's a shit load of things to do in a very small compact space.

+18 Internets | Bhutan. It's god damn gorgeous. The metropolitan areas have large amounts of English speakers. Despite being an isolated and impoverished country (per capita income is about $1300 US per year) it's also one of the happiest countries in the world. Unfortunately, it's a bitch to travel to for casual tourism. Only prepackaged deals arranged by the government AFAIK. Getting a working visa there is made even more difficult because they have formal relations with only a handful of countries of which the US isn't one. |

| wherever you do decide to go, make sure they have a stable infrastructure, i would not recommend a place like Haiti. If it were me, i would probably start at england, then take a euro star to other countries like france and italy, finish up in germany. altho a trip to japan sounds damn sweet too. like Tuco said, you cant go wrong if you stay with those areas. |

+2 Internets | In your situation I'd go to Ireland. No language barrier to worry about but lots of things to see and do, plus it's one of the drinking Meccas of the world. *edit* to elaborate a bit, I've known several people who spent time in Ireland and absolutely loved it. Of course, I generally associate with alcoholics who considered the best part of the vacation being able to drink Guinness and Whiskey in the motherland. And don't forget kissing the Blarney Stone! I absolutely plan on going there at some point in my life; as soon as money allows actually. Last edited by McCheese : 03-01-2008 at 06:07 AM. |

+14 Internets | Netherlands are also expensive X_X I remember paying like 5 Euros for an ultra small bottle of orange juice ;/ Then I went to Italy and got a big fucking glass of fresh squeezed blood orange juice for like 2 Euros. Bhutan is probably one of the most elite tourist destinations. I've seen pictures of various temples and what have you, and it looks like it all jumped from a movie. But in my heart of hearts, I want to goto Japan ;P

| I second the Ireland suggestion. Went there a few weeks ago with some mates, and it was absolutely amazing. Drinking Guinness all day never gets boring, plus there's quite a lot to see as well. Or visit Denmark. The women here in Scandinavia are gorgeous, and most young people speak english, so there shouldn't be any huge language barrier either.

+2 Internets | Australia or New Zealand. English, the women like Americans, and lots to see and do. Plus, in November, it will be not-freezing. Ireland would be cool, but I don't know about 15 days. Of course, if you did go there, you could always head to a nearby country and make a tour of it. I know a guy who went backpacking around New Zealand for almost a month and he just couldn't say enough good about it. My R&R coming up is going to be home, but if I were single or I didn't have kids, I'd hit up Australia. Last edited by Burf : 03-01-2008 at 06:49 AM. |

+5 Internets | I didn't read the whole thread, but you still have to have your passport in order to go to foreign countries that require it. I just wanted to make sure you had one before I offered or you got too excited about one particular place. |
