That was quite possibly the biggest invite for a derail that I have ever seen. Good luck to you and this thread...

It's a hell of a lot less outrageous than most other countries. There just isn't as high of a % of the population on the interwebs in most other countries to spread the "OMG OMG OUR COUNTRY IS GOING TO HELL!!!!"

But by all means move to the Middle East, Russia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and India. I've heard they're doing pretty well with gun control. Or else mebbe people in America should save the over-dramatic, blown way out of proporton crap for Oprah.

I am easily considered a part of the left but....

no there should not be tighter controls on guns in fact i think the laws we have now in place shouldn't be there

owning a gun is just as important as free speech

my thoughts would not sway on this if a 100X more people were killed in educational institutions every year.

This tragedy was absolutly nothing to do with the widespread availiablilty of guns in america...

In fact if those people there also had guns, then everything would have been ok!!!

I can't believe i am quoting this shit; none the less "Guns don't kill people...People kill people."

I deserve at least a little flaming for going there please dish it. I'll be submissive about the insults.

People with guns kill more people and a lot easier than people without guns.

Not saying either/or, but there are plenty of arguable counters to any stance.

I forget the comedian who follows the quote "Guns don't kill people....People Kill people...." with "....but the gun certainly helps." I think it was George Carlin anyway...

Of course if you are unable to control your impulses there is a better chance you will end up hurting someone if you are a gun owner.

It's a hell of alot harder to go on a killing rampage with most other weapons.

With a gun you just pull a trigger and an almost undogeable bullet hits someone. Yeah aiming could be a problem, but its not like its hard to go and practise at a legal firing range is it?

Using a knife for example requires much more physical and mental effort I would think and the victim has a much better chance to run away. It also much easier for people to gang up on one person with a knife.

In the end all I can really go on is personal experience. There was a school shooting here years ago and they put in much tougher guns laws in a country with tough gun laws.
There hasn't been a major shooting here since, but every other year theres a few in america.
