Kidney-nappers target poor Indians

Caught this on CNN today. Apparently a group of rogue surgeons in India have been kidnapping poor people with promises of jobs only to drug them and steal their kidneys. The customers were apparently from Greece and the US. There's long been a thriving black market for organs, but this is the first time I heard about anything this horrific, but I suppose it was just a matter of time.

What I'd like to know is if the "customers" were aware, that their organs were stolen, and in a life or death - them or me - situation, would they have bought them anyway?

The customers will live with it, quite literally, because the victims will live with it as well. Of course, there would be a different opinion if humans required both kidneys to live, or if the body doctors were ruthless bastards and harvested both the kidneys and any other organs they could, resulting in the victim's death.

Since both usually walk away alive, kidneys will always be a black market item until we can clone them or otherwise grow extras.

what we really need is to legalize organ sales in the usa...i mean, if i want to sell a piece of my body, what right is it of the government to tell me I can't receive money in exchange for an organ that 100% belongs to me? "oh but then only the rich would get organs" what does that matter? poor people don't have a right over my organ, so it is my right to choose what i do with it

There's been rumors of alcoholic surgeons, or what have you, moonlighting on the Arizona border doing this for a while to immigrants, except it was more like total organ harvest, who would miss them type thing.

I think that even the possibility of that occurring is really fucked up but I find it completely plausible.

the same reason you arent allowed to sell yourself into slavery? clearly in our debt culture it would somehow be a good idea to let poor people sell themselves for parts so their kids arent in debt. i see no bad coming from this.

Seriously though a full human body scrapped for parts is worth over a million dollars to a hospital (meaning thats what they make from like an organ donor who dies under ideal circumstances not what a desperate rich guy to far down the transplant list might pay) Thats some pretty insane cash that they make off people being nice enough to be a donor.

If the surgeons were real bastards the people would be dead. Completely eviscerated. bones taken out, skin taken off, take the eyes, fat taken to make soap bombs for fight club. Theres really no reason not to do it that way either. Not like the law is gonna be kinder to you for harvesting kidneys and leaving the guy alive vs just killing him... plus its prolly safer if there are no survivors.

These people are programmed by the institutions they graduated from to help people. They drove through medical school because of passion. You do not coast through medical school, no matter what your focus is.
