| Random Startup / Crashes? Hey guys, Having a problem with my PC lately. Sometimes when I power it up, the mouse/external hd/monitors wont power on. Turning off and on usually solves this problem. Other times, my comp will boot correctly, and 10 seconds after I type my pw and login, it will crash. I can leave it at the login indefinitely without crashing, but after I log in (probably 30% of the time) it will just turn off. Any idea what might be causing these problems? I was thinking it might be RAM problems, but I'm no expert. I thought I went with a pretty good RAM company when I built this machine too - Corsair. If I end up having to buy more though thats not a big deal since it's so cheap lately. Thanks for any help.

| Has balls of steel. | If you're not getting any error messages I don't see how it can be bad ram. If you have another power supply laying around I'd try to use that one and see if that gets you anywhere before worrying too much. I've bought an Antec a few months ago and it did something similar.. making pc crash after 15-20 minutes of being on. Give it a shot. Can you check your cpu temp in the bios? If so what is it and what type of processor/mobo do you have? My money is still on a going bad or bad power supply, though. |

| My mobo is Evga 680i and my processor is a c2d e6600. Definitely not an overheat problem, I've got good cooling and temps never get that high. Besides, when my computer boots without problems, I can run stuff like CoD4 multiplayer for hours on high settings without a hitch. Will look into trying another PSU.

+5 Internets | Have fun with that mobo. Mine died on me after a year of flawless use (well, almost flawless. I would get occasional startup hiccups but a reboot 'fixed' it), for literally no reason. Contacted evga, received a DOA replacement mobo from them. Logged on their forums, found out many people were on their 7th+ RMA. Said fuck that, bought an abit IP35 pro and have been happy ever since. |
