Are you kidding me?

Im socially liberal (except when it comes to affirmative action) and fiscally conservative.

I have always in my entire voting life however voted straight party lines democrat because the social part was to me, more important.

But we have a "relief package" now going thru congress....

LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT.

I only have to earn more than 3,000 and i get 300 dollars.

I could pay NO taxes and get 300 dollars (because if i make more than 3k but less than 40 ill get all the taxes i paid in over the last year back as a refund).

If I pay a little bit of taxes I get 600 dollars.

If I make over 75k, even though cost of DC housing is 5th highest in the country, i get NOTHING?????


So.....the people who pay taxes.....get no money. And the mother fuckers who helped create this economic situation...who borrowed more than they could.....who arent paying their mortgages...who drove down the value of MY house...who are already going to get a bailout on their mortgage....who are going to take that 300 dollars and buy a Wii or go to Vegas instead of using it productively......are getting money back????????????????????????? And the people who are currently still keeping the economy going get BUPKIS?

Fuck you democratic party. Bush's initial proposal which would have given people who pay taxes money (jesus ANY money) was the ONLY thing that bush ever tried to do that I actually agreed with. People who pay fucking taxes should get the money. NOT people who are in large part responsible for the state of the economy now who dont even pay fucking income tax!

That's pretty much where I stopped reading. If you think buying a commercial product or going to a casino isn't the same as throwing your money into the stock market on an purely economic level, then I don't know what to tell you. As long as people don't just take the $300 and shove it in their pocket IT IS BEING USED PRODUCTIVELY.

I'm not a lawyer :P Im a law school grad. I dont live like a fat cat, I'm one of the people getting a 600 dollar check thank you very much. Thanks to student loans and a mortgage I'm literally living paycheck to paycheck. I don't even get to save money for retirement. But thats the difference. I'm paying my way thru a difficult time. I'm not looking to the govt for some damn handout. If no one got checks I would go on my way doing what has to be done.

But if you think that someone paying rent/bills/mortgage/debts is the same as someone going to vegas on a global economy level then I have to wonder about your sanity. Is it going into the economy yes. In a way it was intended? Hell no. In a way that will HELP the individual and serve the purpose of getting people back on their feet? Hell no.

Well thats a bigger issue and i agree with you. I personally think that the economy needs to right itself and no body should be getting bailouts so that people in this country remember what overextension on credit is.

But jesus if youre going to give people more money why why why why why not the people already giving 1/3 of their income to the govt?????

P.S. I think economic stimulus packages are retarded, you are taking from the future to put off the ugly today. Guess what happens when the future comes a knockin for it's principal + interest. We take it in the ass, that's what.

If you make more than 75k/year you get nothing. If you have children you get 300/kid.

If youre married I believe if you make less than 150k a year jointly you get 1200.
