States with higher percentages of voters with a college education (naturally producing higher incomes) are also states in which these voters are more likely to vote democrat, tipped in that direction also by a higher percentage among those with advanced degrees among all of those with a college education. In states with lower percentages the educated are more loyal to Republicans and it's a much more solid loyalty in comparison. The educated just vote differently depending on how concentrated their numbers are but overall, Republicans tend to win. The least uneducated are pretty overwhelmingly democrats no matter where you look.
CNN.com Election 2004

Really, Democrats dominated the "uneducated" vote? Please, stop talking about shit you have absolutely no fucking clue about.

We aren't discussing a single election. The only thing this data shows is that Democrats didn't win among those who did not graduate high school to the extent that they normally do. As you can see, Bush had 10% less in 2000 among those who did not graduate high school (40% to 60%, a difference you will never see in the opposite direction). This is much closer to typical. Using Gallup numbers, Clinton swamped both Dole and Bush among those with only a grade school education by just about doubling the percentages (Perot took a chunk) and even in Reagan's landslide 1984 victory when he won 59% of the popular vote he couldn't quite win that group. Bush won big against Dukakis and still lost among that same group by 10%. Carter won this group twice and pretty big (17% and 12% margins). Going back to 1960, only once did a Republican presidential nominee carry this illiterate bunch when Nixon won by 2% in 1972. They flocked to Humphrey, Johnson and Kennedy. Look at the data on state and city elections and it's even more convincing. This segment is much more likely to identify themselves as Democrats and the independents rarely break so heavily in one direction as to allow Republicans to win among them. Here's a breakdown:

Also notice that the higher up the income scale you go, the more solidly Republican things look both in the Pew table and the CNN exit poll. The assumption that the wealthiest states are "blue" because the wealthy and more educated are uniformly more likely to vote Democrat while the poor and uneducated are more likely to vote Republican has no basis.

I don't normally care about issues enough for it to be a deal breaker (guns, immigrants, gays, whatever) but if John McCain is against this bill and supports Bush's veto of it I cannot, as a veteran, vote for him. Period.

End of story.

edit - the video I was responding to has been removed by IRB but I'm leaving my comment~

Clinton to Obama: There's no nominee yet - Yahoo! News

Clinton bitching about Obama looking forward to the general election and beginning to show up in states that will play a key role in contest. Hypocrit. She'd be doing the same damn thing in his position.

the best part is shes like "thank you KY you will help me get to the nomination"....after saying wins in states like ID, AK etc where obama won are irrelevant because they are red states.

hillary's hypocrisy is staggering.

i saw lewis black last thurs and he summed it up best "she really REALLY wants to win. so badly it kind of scares me."

Those states have a very uneducated population that vote Republican
Interesting, if anything.

America's Top Public High Schools | Newsweek Best High Schools | Newsweek.com

#1 - Arizona - Red
#2 - Texas - Red
#3 - Florida - Red
#4 - Texas - Red
#5 - Florida - Red
#6 - California - Blue
#7 - South Carolina - Red
#8 - Florida - Red
#9 - California - Blue
#10- Washington - Blue

So the top 10 high schools in the nation, 7 of the top 10 are from "red" states.

Just found that interesting.

Carry on.

Speaking for the Texas Schools, they're in Dallas and the cities tend to play more towards Obama than the rural areas.

maybe the reason they are all so fucking dumb is they spend all their money on that one high school while the other 1000 in the state suck.. seriously what a fucking stupid argument, that would be like me saying omg everyone in MA is smart because harvard is here and obviously everyone in the state goes to one school and it doesnt matter if every other school in the state sucks and produces retards.

Is there a reason California was ranked both 6 and 9? is it just that awesome?
