clinton lied about cheating on his wife. not a fan from a moral perspective but it wasnt a deep damn betrayal of the f'ing country. i dont care who you sleep with as long as the country is functional and safe. he lied about it under oath ok yes thats text book perjury but jesus h christ bush commits conspiracy and treason and nada. zilch. the only reason he wasnt charged with perjury is that he didnt deny involvement under oath and took steps to assure he'd never have to take an oath in the first place. and even if he was subpoena'ed .....we know how much respect the administration has for those pieces of paper/other branches of the government.

I agree 100% with this statement and this is what pisses me off more than anything. I could care less if he cheated on his wife as long as he is doing a good job in the White House. WTF does cheating on your wife have to do with running the country? Nothing it is ubsurd. It was pretty obvious from the start that Bush was behind all this. That, or he's just the idiot pawn some say he is. And I don't think he's that dumb.
I also believe it's a nasty trick he pulled on that CIA woman. Even if it does not put her life in danger (and I don't know about that) it sends a pretty bad message to all the people who are working for their country / government.

But the fact is that it shouldn't be ground to impeach a President of the US. It shouldn't even be discussed. Presidents and high officials do a lot of nasty stuff. Some of it for their country, some of it for themselves, but still. It's part of the job description.
All in all, no big deal.

Obviously, the Clinton impeachment thing was even more ridiculous. What's even MORE ridiculous is how ignorant of how ridiculous it was so many Americans are.

Are you serious? You just gave a reason in the sentence before that statement that it IS a big deal. When you do shit that is ILLEGAL which impacts how the government functions, the country functions, the safety of people who work for and are protected by the government its a very big deal. Its not passing a piece of legislation which has to be approved and enforced and upheld as constitutional by the other branches of this government which others may disagree with - its unilateral action outside the law which deeply negatively impacts the government. How is this not a big deal?

K, really trying to be civil here, for the sake of discussion, so let's put it all on the table, what really happened. Valerie Plame's husband was publicly critical of Bush policy. Bush and Cheney, in order to get political revenge on his, OUTED A COVERT CIA AGENT. Classified information was released and a coverup to prevent the public from knowledge of that disclosure was performed. Not only was Plame outed, but her shell company was outed as a CIA cover for agents. Who knows how many agents were outed, how many operations were put in jeopardy, how many people are dead.
This woman was working on stifling nuclear proliferation in Iraq and Iran. OOPS.

This is not no big deal, this is a huge deal. If you or I did this we would be put to death. It is treason, plain and simple.
