| BUBBLES THE MONKEY!!! | Verizon sues the FCC Verizon unhappy with 700MHz open access requirements, sues FCC See, I look at this and it makes the major telecom companies look like fucking super villains. This is something that if used in cellular service would only benefit consumers because you wouldn't be able to lockout devices and Verizon is pissed off about it. I find it hilarious that the FCC throws the telecoms a bone in a way by not agreeing to all of Google's demands and only giving them 2 and Verizon STILL gets pissy. Also if you're unaware of what's going on. There's an auction coming up in January for 700 MHZ of the spectrum that the TV companies are giving back since they're digital now. Google wanted to bid but basically wanted complete open access to do so. The FCC gave them two of their 4 open access demands and now it looks like Apple wants to bid as well. Verizon basically threatened the Gov't and FCC as a result of this by saying it would reduce revenue and technology improvements. The FCC didn't bite so now Verizon is suing the FCC. Classic. |

| 700mhz is expected to go for 14.5 billion. That's a long shot for Apple and quite a stretch for google as well. Plus I thought Verizon was the good guys of telecom service, after all, their FiOS service is actually approaching par compared to the rest of the US's broadband?

| I find it hard to believe that Google can't afford that. Google is taking over the world, man.

| This pisses me off... I can't wait until Verizon and the rest of the hold out non-GSM companies fade away so we can all use whatever phone we want with whatever company we want for competitive rates. Europe and the rest of the world are SO far ahead of us... and it's VERIZON'S fault for the most part. Reputation with Google has increased by a million. |
