Baby Grace's parents met playing WoW

I dont say this as an indicator that the fact they met thru wow means they were bad people (which would make me the biggest hypocrite ever) - I'm hoping that because WoW is a community that perhaps there might be some evidence that can be used that someone in their guild or w/e might know of that would help them in putting these people away/on deathrow (hallo Texas).

If you need backstory (most ppl who read these forums consistently are pretty up on current events tho): Police: Mother describes beating of 2-year-old, hiding her body - CNN.com

I cant track down the CNN page that mentioned they met thru wow.

Salient facts:

She is 19, had a daughter 2 years ago while still living in Cleveland. Moved to TX to be with the man she met, 24 less than a year ago.

Any information here that we could find could put these people away for a long time or provide investigators with leads etc.

*rolls eyes* soriak im quite certain that any prosecutor who does his job and who doesnt want to be out of a job if it comes out on appeal that shoddy evidence was put forth will weed out those types...and people who are concerned about...you know perjury wont give false testimony b/c they got griefed either.

What is messed up is this brought back memories of EQ and WOW and how I met so many parents that played and had kids that they ignored or paid very little attention to because they were playing a video game. I met so many people that did this. I even heard babies crying in vent and the parents get all pissed off and scream at the babies. Degenerates that are unemployed and are living on scraps but find the time and money to play an MMO. It reminds me of crack babies. I can only imagine how these 2 people spent so much time in WOW that they met each other and got married and had a kid, then totally neglected it and beat it when it interfeared with their online time. It is really messed up and sad. No kid deserves that. Kids need 100% full time attention. We wonder why the world is so messed up today, it starts with the children.

At risk of putting myself up for ridicule, I met my current gf through online gaming, yeah yeah I know. But, we knew each other for 3 years and have both seen things just like Burkex is talking about and readjusted our playstyles just for each other and for our other responsibilities. For a kid? forget about it, we wouldn't be playing at all. A friend of mine from WoW just recently had his first kid and he quit entirely, only time I ever see him is he pops on vent for a few minutes before he has to go. I don't understand how people, grown people with responsibilities, can do that shit. Much less what we're talking about here, this is just some of the most horrible abuse I've heard of short of just straight infanticide.

If it wasn't WoW it would've been alcohol. If they didn't have alcohol it would've been hard drugs. It really doesn't matter WHAT their chosen escape was, if their circumstances or upbringing didn't equip them to confront reality in a productive manner they would've sunk into the underbelly of hardcore stamp-collecting or something and the kid would be just as dead.

Why does it matter if they played WoW or not? Do they put on every other dead kid story "parents met in a bar, got stoned every night and had irresponsible sex" ? But if it's a video game, holy shit, front page news. Stupid.

If you read the articles beyond the topic, it says that she was not his kid, it's actually two people who are somehow sick enough to bond and then agree on torturing a child (neglect is an understatement). I am curious as to why the natural father was OK with her just leaving state with his child and moving in with a complete stranger, but due to his background, he sounds like an abusive shithead, too.

There are bad parents with or without games, if it's not games it's bars, televisions, sleep, drugs, etc. Some people are just not cut for breeding and that's why I think you should be required to obtain a license to reproduce, anyone who fails testing wins free state funded sterilization!

&ravenn: Population control, though obviously a violation of "natural rights" (this is a laughable phrase these days), is something which we as a world will inevitably have to fall back on to avoid massive starvation and depletion of other resources. Or, they can genetically modify another disease to cull foreign populations.

I think I am agreeing with you, but it's ridiculous to try to eliminate undesirables, as there would be no meat to send off to war.
