| Plugged In Like Neo | Can't access Google =( Okay, I'm getting really crabby over this. I can't access Google or any webpages that are using Google Analytics or have Google Ads (which is a huge percentage of the pages I view...) It is happening on all my computers on the network here. I can ping Google.com and get a response. I have tried resetting the router. I use a static IP on all the computers. Router is a Linksys WRT54G. It is happening on the computers that are using the wi-fi and the computers that are connected via ethernet. Backstory: My roommate tells me that our router reset itself on Wednesday. Not sure if this is when it started, but it was definitely working fine on Tuesday. Any ideas? I'm stumped. =( |

| Plugged In Like Neo | Well, when I try to connect directly to the modem I cannot connect to the internet at all. I believe that has something to do with maybe the fact that I had to call the ISP (Cox) to configure the router and allow the router to get the right IP. Maybe it is still set to that. This is pissing me off. I tried to hook my main PC up by ethernet cable directly to the modem and I couldn't get it to connect. Now when I hooked the router back up, that computer can't go to ANY webpages. It can however still chat on Trillian fine and I can ping Google still (But not fohguild.org for some reason?) Still none of the computers can access any pages with google on them...and all the computers can ping Google. WTF =( |

| Did you turn off the computer and unplug the modem when connecting? If you switch from a router to a direct connection sometimes you need to turn it all off and get a refresh. If your computer is looking for the router, and the modem is trying to talk to the router they won't always automatically find each other. |

| Plugged In Like Neo | Another thing - if I use the ping test within the router interface, it is able to ping Google just fine. PING google.com ( 64.233.167.99 ) : 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 64.233.167.99: icmp_seq=0, ttl=247 times=70. ms 64 bytes from 64.233.167.99: icmp_seq=1, ttl=247 times=60. ms 64 bytes from 64.233.167.99: icmp_seq=2, ttl=247 times=70. ms 64 bytes from 64.233.167.99: icmp_seq=3, ttl=247 times=70. ms 64 bytes from 64.233.167.99: icmp_seq=4, ttl=247 times=70. ms --- google.com ping statistics --- packets transmitted = 5 , packets received = 5 packet loss = 0% round-trip min/avg/max = 60/68/70 |
