Options with wireless network @ work

Ok so basically long story short:

I have an opportunity to transfer to a position where I will work about 1/2 as hard as I do now, and make the same money.

I will sit on my ass and do some kind of paperwork, i have no idea.

But my question is: My job has a wireless network. It's a hospital - the wireless network doesnt go through the whole thing. I get it in some areas, and I don't in others.

I want to bring my laptop in (i'd take this job to let me do my coursework while at work, as well as fuck off obviously) but there is like a 50/50 chance of the wireless network being strong enough in the area i'm in.

Are there any options for me to guarantee i can get a connection? Some kind of modem I can plug in or a booster or something? I'm a total newb with this stuff.

If you have zero connection, there's nothing to boost and it won't matter.

If you have a minimal connection, then it depends on if their network is encrypted or not. If encrypted you can't boost it on your own, if it's not you can try a wireless range expander such as the one from Linksys. It will require a plug socket.

In my past experience with other jobs within the hospital, it will always detect a network (not zero connection) but sometimes it just wont be strong enough to get on at all.

I'm unsure what you mean by encrypted - but anyone can log onto the network there , no pw needed or anything.
