| Go to hell Bob Crowe I live in London and there is this fucking scumbag arrogant wanker Union leader called Bob Crowe, he will rot in hell when he dies - and 12 million people hope that is sooner rather than later. The fucker leads the RMT union and calls fucking strikes at the least provocation, last year he agreed a landmark deal to stop all his fucking peons striking in exchange for a nice payrise. Since this landmark agreement theres been a couple of 1 day strikes and no we are on the first of two 3 day strikes in the space of two weeks. These fuckers are working something like 35 hours a week, in good conditions and getting paid way more than highly educated 60 hours a week folk. Whenever they have these strikes, something like 2,000,000 people each day have 3-4 hours added to their daily trip into work, all of the roads become jammed and about 30-40% of people cannot make it into work. They are irresponsible, lazy, selfish fucks whose only response to not having massively inflation busting pay deals or not having the best healthcare possible is to fuck over every other citizen. |

| Spoken like a typically ignorant tube passenger. What would you rather face, an extra 3-4 hours on your day for 3 days, or face losing X% of your annual salary and pension contributions? Piss and moan all you like, but imo the guys striking have every bloody reason to. All they want is a guarantee from the administrator of Metronet that their members pay and pension will be protected regardless of who ends up owning the company. Your also failing to recognise that the other 2 Unions have not scrapped all plans to strike, they have only postponed striking this week. Its the harsh reality these days, that if you want to effect change then you need to make the fat cats sit up and take notice. |

+32 Internets | Umm, did a London resident brawl just break out oh FoH general?? I'd love to comment, but I have no idea what either of you are talking about. Most US Americans don't either. So unless you want to move to the Iraq, I suggest you find the USA on a map.

| Bugger off out of my rant thread yanks. Edit: Would have responded sooner, but for some reason my daily commute took four hours longer than usual today. London is a big city, slightly smaller population than NY but *much* more spread out. The way the city is laid out, mass transit is the only sensible way to get around - and the core of that is the Underground / Tube / Subway. Now there is one Union that is far more militant than any other, and happens to pretty much control the Underground workers. Even though it is essential to the economy and the livelyhood of something like 25% of all the population, and a good 50% of the working population, this Union will strike at the least provocation. One of the groups of people that are covered by the Union are the maintainence workers, who happen to work for the company which maintains the majority of the lines. Said employer screwed up its finances and went bust, prompting management to switch to and Administration company, Ernst & Young I beleive. Militant union leader started screaming blue bloody murder about how his members might lose their jobs or pension schemes (bringing them into line with every other worker in the capatilist world). After receiving assurances from a) The Mayor, b) The Administrator and c) The Government that these people that worked for a company that went bust would actually keep their salaries, working conditions and pensions at new company the Union decided that the best course of action would be to run 2 sequential 3 day strikes designed to cause maximum disruption to the people that actually rely on the system to get to work everyday. This has basically added 3-4 hours commute for something like 2 million people every day for two weeks, the train operators dont care because they are funded by subsidies paid by taxes, the government etc wont do anything because they have already agreed to the demands. The only group that gets fucked over are the people that have to use this transport, who also pay for it twice in taxes and exhorbitant fares. The impact is massive, for instance in my small company, almost half of our staff could not get into work today, another 1/4 were late or left early - and this is going to go on for two weeks. This union pulls this shit again and again and again. Excuse me if any sympathy I ever had for them has been replaced with a strong sense of antipathy. +31 Internets | I like to skip through fields of wild flowers while undressing as slowly as I possibly can to savor the moment. When I'm fully nude, I shove the flower stems up my pee hole and decorate my face with pollen. I am nature's warrior.

| Fucking wankers the lot of them. Sack them and put in some Poles (people from Poland for the geography handicapped) for half the cost and double the efficiency. The good thing is my new job that I start in 2 weeks is based 15 miles outside of the M25 so I don't have to deal with any of this shit. Quote:
Fuck sake Ken Livingstone had the administrator as well as the CEO of Metronet sign a document giving assurances of no job losses or pension loss and the wankers still went on a 3 day holiday. A 24 hour strike I might understand but 72 fucking hours are you kidding me? Get Maggy Thatcher on these pronto. Last edited by K`Lag : 09-04-2007 at 05:37 PM. | |
