| External / Laptop Sound Card for Music Production I am joining a "band" and I am playing keyboard/synth and I am going to try and run all the programs and sound off my laptop. Problem is the shitty sound card that it came with. I need something with a MIDI port and maybe multiple input jacks for speakers and stuff. Sooo im assuming I need to find something external but I have had no such luck, anyone have any knowledge about external sounds card/devices???

| E-mu makes a ton of them. Something like the E-mu 0404 usb might be what you are looking for. Check those out. |

| Yes they do. Not really good for gaming or movie watching so much, at least the 0404 its only two channel. Good for listening to music though. They have good DACs. |

| nice, i will only be using it for shows, i need the midi input for my board and the larger speaker ports for the speakers at the shows. So i think this will work out just fine.

| I use the digidesign MBOX unit - can have 2 external 1/4 in. or XLR inputs as well as a midi-in / midi-out. Search Results - GuitarCenter.com It couples well w/ Protools for recording which you may want to think about if you are in a band to "critique" your songs. Just make sure the one you get is PC compadible via USB. These Cards can be tough to set up w/ PC's though. It took me a month of serious tweaking before I figured out how to do this... |
