Sorting software Does anyone know of some software that would be able to sort things for me? For example you could enter A>N N>V And it would figure out the order is A N V Obviously what I need sorted is much more complex but that is the jist of it.

Can i do that in access with out knowing the actual value of the variables? Let's say I had 125 variables with 125 rules or something of that nature. All I know is a>b, c>d, d>b, a>c, and so on. However there is no numerical value attached to the variables. All I know is which is worth more than another.

If there is a definite correct sorted output you can assign values to each variable. If all you have is a rule that a>b and a>c nothing can read your mind and determine if b >c or c>b. And if you do have a rule for those, then you have enough information to assign the correct position to those two variables in the first place.

Well I do have a rule or can keep collecting them till i get enough, however will access do that for me or do i need to look elsewhere? Actually the above example breaks down to A>C>D>B
