Outlook express help

So my computer had a massive virus and I have to wipe everything, of course I never backed anything up. I use outlook express for emails, how do I get outlook express up and running with my old account? Any good websites that show how to do this? I know IT guys can do it in like 2 minutes, but I suck with outlook express.

you want to get your email in outlook express?

you need your income and outgoing server address, ususally something like mail.YOURSERVER.com

then you just need your email username and password.

Is that all you wanted?

I just hope you are not expecting to find your old emails there. By default Outlook express sends a message to the server when it recieves the emails to remove them from the server.

I guarantee you that your ISP has a FAQ on how to set up a pop e-mail account with all the settings needed for their server.

If you want your emails, do a search and grab all .dbx files

Should be in Documents and settings -> Yourname -> local settings -> application data -> Identities -> {some long string} -> Outlook express

Your address book is in Documents and settings -> Application data -> microsoft -> address book

Back all those files up, them import them once you reinstall.

Hey guys appreciate the quick responses I should have been more thorough with my problem.

Alls I need to do is set up my email on outlook express. My address is @comcast.net, but I use outlook express. So how do I go about basically re-logging into my account and having at least my contacts still there.

If your files are already gone, you basically need to log into your email and whatever was still on the server will repopulate your email.

You may need to use imap instead of pop3 tho.

seems like I just need help with the ingoing and outgoing.

I did mail.comcast.com for the pop3 and outgoing smtp, but apparently that is not correct.

If it doesn't work after following Hachima's link below, post the 0x800cccxx # at the bottom of the error message you get.
